What's the condition with his knee? I don't quite remember how he injured it, but he hasn't got a torn ACL or meniscus, so what happened to his knee? I asked this question because I lately injured my knee a little bit and started wondering how bad is it for him to play. Is it just a bruised knee or something else? As far as I know there aren't too many things that can go wrong with your knee but meniscus and ACL.
He tweaked his knee in the 3rd quarter last night and said it hurts every time he comes down. They'll just have to keep icing it and then drain it after Thursday game. Bynum's earned a lot of respect in the locker room after Game 2 and playing through this injury. Last night was the most emotional I've seen him since his infamous dunk on Shaq. I think he's finally starting to get "it" and is getting that fire we've been looking for. You see those screens he was setting last night? He was knocking the shit out of those guys and being a beast on the block.
He has earned my respect also these Finals. I wonder if we could see a HEALTHY Bynum next year in the playoffs. Others are getting older and older so he can be a real asset
He earned their respect earlier in the playoffs, according to Gasol. One thing is for sure, he's been our most consistent player this series. He's showed up in all 3 games so far and Boston's offense really seems to struggle when he is in there. Like Shape said, he was also setting some pretty vicious picks and even got into Odom's face about guarding Sheed. I think his knee was hit by a Celtics' player when he was setting a pick, but even after that he blocked Perkin's shot before being taken out. He came in and played 4 in the 4th before Odom closed the game out. He'll be fine. :] I think once Bynum finally stops growing and learns to play with his body and learns his body, we'll see a decrease in his injuries.
This just in ... BOSTON -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum said Wednesday his right knee has improved since receiving treatment and he intends on playing in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Bynum, who has played with a torn meniscus throughout the postseason, limped through the Lakers' Game 3 win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. He played only four minutes in the fourth quarter after tweaking the knee with 5:17 left in the third, and afterward declared the knee "questionable" for Thursday's game. "There was swelling after the game yesterday, but it's come back down," Bynum said Wednesday, adding he could play 30 minutes or more if needed. "Definitely," he said. "This is it. We've got two more games to get and I want to be there for the rest of the trip." Bynum insisted the increased pain during Game 3 didn't represent a setback. "No, no, no," he said about the condition worsening. "That's gonna happen. The doctor told me about that. ... It's just something I have to deal with. It'll hurt every now and again." Bynum said he expects to undergo surgery after the season ends.
Good news. I'm so glad Drew is sucking it up and playing through the pain. His performance in the Finals has been very inspiring. I hope he can keep this up.
