With Roy's career now in question, what do you expect from Wesley Matthews? Is he an All-Star caliber player? Can he average 20 ppg for a season? More? Is he just a scorer, or could he eventually round out his game like Roy? How much better can he get?

I think we can determine that out when his season rounds out for next year with a different lineup. Maybe then we can determine what his ceiling is.

I think it's up in the air. He's already accomplished so much in so little time. I can't imagine him improving and he seems to have a great attitude, I'm a big fan.

You don't think he'll improve at all? He's only in his second season.

I meant to say that I can't imagine him NOT improving.

What are the major flaws to Matthews' game? I'd say it's limited passing ability and lack of proven ability as a one-on-one iso scorer and....really, that's about it. He's a good defender, good three point shooter, good at finishing in traffic, good at drawing contact.

I think he's clearly working on the iso game. By that, I mean using his handle to beat the other team's best defender off the dribble. But it still needs some work. But he's only 24. That'll come.

Yeah, I think he could make an all-star team.

I really think he'd do well on an Olympic team, though. The defense, three point shooting and open court driving ability seem a perfect fit....if in 3 or 4 years they have to choose between him or a guy like Kevin Martin or Tyreke Evans, I might go with Matthews.

Well, if he were to average 26 per game......then maybe he would be an All Star!

I do think he's a starter in this league - not a role player, 6th man, etc.

I think it's pretty clear that Matthews' ceiling is Kevin Pritchard's ceiling.

Athleticism. He's big and strong, and barges by his man, but if he had all-star talent, he'd have been drafted at least by #60.

Matthews doesn't have a big bag of tricks like the elite SG's do. He's really an undersized SF like Jimmy Jackson or JR Rider, but I'm okay with that. His ceiling? I hate to say anything about anyone's ceiling. However, for a rebuilding team, he looks to be perfect at SG/SF: relatively low cost, energetic, and unafraid.

Ben Wallace on Line 2... he says something about undrafted all-stars.

I can tell ya what he's not LAZY, he works on his game and wants to attack the rim and play defense and he has heart! That can translate in to anything!

Offensively, he is probably as good as he is going to get. Defensively, I think the more he learns and he takes in, the better he will continue to get. He will never be who we though Brandon Roy was and that is one of the top 10-15 players in the league that can take over the game in the final moments of it. But he will always a fine role player and will help this team reach whatever it's goal is.

I love the guy though. Everyone of his teammates can learn something from him.

I am just taking a guess that his ceiling is at least 6'7" tall. Or else he will be ducking most of the time, and that is no way to live at home.

Matthews upside potential?? All-Star for sure! He already knows how to play the team game. Now, he just has to learn to be more selfish and develop a juke-step Jumper. If he could create for himself with a hard first step and then calmly go up with that jumper - he'd be All-Star or near all-star level in this league.

Right now - he's a middle of the road, average SG/SF. He will get better.
