Okay, given what has transpired during the trade deadline, what do you guys think is the most realistic/likely option that Joe is hunting for this off-season? Of course someone will flame out of the playoffs and a player originally thought of as untouchable may shake free, but as it stands I think we can be hoping for something like this (operating as an above the cap team):

    1. Pray to god the Pelicans pick conveys.
    2. Trade the worse of the Pelicans/our pick for Grant. Try to use Bledsoe as matching salary, but Detroit probably asks for the TPE. I'm not super high on Grant, but Joe seems to have an attachment to him, and he would be somewhat of a goodwill gesture to Dame.
    3. Re-sign Nurkic to a team friendly 16M/Year contract. (14/15/17/18, Last year TO)
    4. Re-sign Ant (after everyone else has signed) to a 4 year 90M contract. This is A LOT of money, so hopefully he lives up to it. (This is what Mikal Bridges got, 22.75M / Year)
    5. Pick up Josh Hart's option.
    6. Full MLE for Kyle Anderson.
    7. Re-sign McLemore to a 3M/Year contract.
    8. Sign Trendon Watford to a cheap team friendly contract.
    9. Use our own lottery pick on a Chauncey type player.

If we still have the 20M TPE, carry that into the season and try to do something with it.

    Dame/Hart/Johnson
    Ant/Hart/McLemore
    Nas/Anderson/Lottery pick? (Keegan Murray?)
    Grant/Winslow/Brown
    Nurkic/Watford/Vet Min Center?

It's not great, but it's definitely a team that's more suited to ChaunceyBall™. There is also a lot of flexibility with those contracts (and maybe the TPE) so we can do some maneuvering throughout the season.

That is a pretty good list. I am hoping though that Hughes can show us enough that he can replace McClemore for a little cheaper than Ben.

I know you're not overjoyed with Grant, but look at the PF FA market, and I think you'll like him a lot more!

I'm not hoping for anyone in free agency, there is no one. But yes, I'm fine with Grant because he's probably the best talent that we can realistically get with our TPE. And like I said, it's a goodwill gesture to Dame (we're trying!).

big FA unlikely with what's there, lopsided salary trade/or TPE with a lotto pick is a possible avenue to get a very good player, got some teams with bloated salaries that may need to "slim down" if they are under achieving

there is kind of a pipedream off-season plan depending getting both lottery picks and on a couple of teams cooperating, which they likely wouldn't

    1) trade Simons in a S&T to Boston along with one of the lottery picks, plus filler like Winslow and Louzada/Hughes to Boston for Jaylen Brown

    2) trade the other lottery pick + Bedsoe/TPE for Grant

re-sign Nurkic for less than 15M/year

    Dame
    Hart
    Brown
    Grant
    Nurkic

short of that I'm not expending much energy in figuring out alternative scenarios. I just hope Cronin doesn't bid against himself like Olshey often did

This is the "shake free" I was talking about if Boston absolutely flames out of the playoffs. Although tiny nitpick but Hughes is a FA this off-season. I don't see us re-signing either Hughes or Elleby. Also would be nice to dump Louzada on someone. That guy is useless.

yeah, it's a long shot but at least the Blazers are in a position to potentially score on a long shot deal now. They weren't 10 days ago

I'd roll the dice on Jalen Smith since he's unrestricted.

    Something like this

If it was as easy as trading the NO pick and Bledsoe for Grant it would have happened already. The Pistons want two picks. Portland would likely have to give up their own and NO's. Though DET may be more willing to part with Grant during the draft because they will be taking Smith or Banchero to replace him on the cheap.

Not true. There is a lot of uncertainty with the pick right now. Come draft day there will be more certainty with where the pick lies and who is available. It’s a lot easier to justify trading Grant for an actual player versus a chance at 5-14.

We aren't getting Harden or LaVine. Maybe Beal but very unlikely...and seeing as we just unloaded CJ to give Simons the keys, why would the Blazers sign Beal and undo that?

I also don't see the Blazers trading Simons for Brown.

Blazers are going to build a team the hard way

We trade pelicans pick, Bledsoe, and Keon Johnson for grant. Then use our pick on one of the SG/Forwards that will be available in our range. I am assuming we don’t have much money to play with unless we renounce Simon and Nurk. So resign Nurk to a 3 year $50 mil with the 3rd year being a team option. Resign Simons to 4 year $80 mil. Resign Ingles to one year $5 mil. Sign Kyle Anderson to mle. Sign Watford to a cheap deal. Sign a vet c to a cheap deal.
    Dame/simons
    Hart/ingles/lottery
    Little/Winslow
    Grant/Anderson
    Nurk/Watford/Vet
A very good and tough defensive squad with good offense. There is also very good depth at every position and a ton of versatility.

    True

The pick would be an absolute then, but they have said they want two picks for Grant. Not that they might not come down from that.

If it happens I expect it to happen on draft day if a player Detroit is targeting is available at the pick. Right now we hold 8 and 9, so that’s pretty nice for targeting someone specific who drops.
