That's the only thing that is concerning me right now. I love our roster and I love the effort we're showing. Howevahhh...What is with all these freaking TURNOVERS?! Averaging 21 a game? Are you kidding me? We have to cut that shit down if we're going to be competitive.
I think we may become one of those "ugly offense" team. Focus on defense and have about a plus 15 possessions over the other teams. I think the play will get better in time. Also.... I keep bringing up the 1999 team. They had turn over issues as well. But they were top 5 in rebounding and top 5 in opponent fg%.
The funny thing about the turnovers is that they are so bad that Im not worried about it. What I mean is that is almost comical and unrealistic to think that it wont resolve itself over time. Im sure thats a weird stance but its how I feel.
We have the highest negative turnover differential and the lowest number of steals, but we are tied (with the Bulls) for the lead in FG%. Coincidence? We don't gamble AT ALL and as a result have a much better defense? Also we lead the league in preseason for rebounding differential. Real progress, and that after losing a supposedly elite rebounder in JJ Hickson and replacing him with a not-great rebounder in Lopez. I guess he really did steal rebounds from other people... Actually, when I think about it, that's pretty amazing: we commit a shit-ton of turnovers, which SHOULD give them easy points and a high shooting %, but that's not happening. Finally good transition defense? Just playing crappy teams in preseason? Just coincidentally bad shooting from the other teams?
Turnovers aren't so bad when they never turn into made shots on the other end. I'd rather have solid defense than have a low turnover percentage. It's much easier to learn how to protect the ball.
We played the clippers twice and golden state. They aren't crappy. Also Utah was supposed to still be a great rebounding team and we made them our bitch
