When I was young, nuclear weapons really scared the shit out of me. As I have gotten older, I worry less about them because the likelihood of their mass use is, realistically, very small. MAD and all.

These days, two things worry me for my kids, and their kids.

The first is climate change. Boo hoo all you want some of you, but it's real and it's scary. Puerto Ricans fleeing to Florida is a taste of what is to come.

More worrisome I think is AI and Big Brother. I hate that I am always being tracked on my phone. I hate that I am always connected. I saw there is a new pill that will alert doctors if you don't take your medicine. AI creating smarter AI is a recipe for disaster. Everyone staring into their phone all day. None of it is good -- except for GPS, that's a change for the better. But the rest of it? Bah humbug.

    You?

Our entire economy is fraudulent and will crash down hard. Like absolute catastrophe and the post-apocalyptic world will be ushered when the system collapses.

The other worrisome trend is that people are just plain and simply evil to their core. Politics and life is nothing more than one upmanship, no one cares about their cause, they just want to be better than someone else and be able to rub it in their face.

The growing trend of nationalism and isolationism around the globe is pretty scary to me. It reminds me of the lead up to both World Wars in a way. It is a trend worth watching.

The AI and Big Brother thing is a huge concern. I love what the internet provides - instant access to things we otherwise would spend a lot of time and resources finding, and making genuine connections with other people (at least, when you're an adult).

However, I have no real sense of privacy anymore. It's amazing that celebrities ever have a second to themselves. Everything is tracked. EVERYTHING. It sucks. Commercialism is really going to take over our country with this AI. They can subliminally, as well as in your face, be a part of your every waking moment.

It started gradually, but now it's ubiquitous across multiple platforms.

There was a song I listened to about 18 years ago that kind of changed how I thought about the world and the percieved "autonomy" they think we have... and this song was made before it really all hit the fan. And how to stand up to it and be your own person in a world of forced togetherness. (This is not to say there is no way to unite, but when it's coerced, it's sickening)

In my time left on Earth, I feel any currently non-nuclear country getting nukes is a recipe for WWIII, and should be prevented whatever it takes.

AI will probably result in a failed (the first time) but bloody coup attempt eventually as it is all in the hands of those who attempt to rule the world, but is no match for armed Americans.

Probably happen after my expiration date.

Climate change is nothing to fear, whether accelerated or not, as it is simple and inexpensive to adapt to.

16 years ago I moved from Milwaukie, Oregon's dark, dank, always dripping climate to La Pine, Oregon's dazzling, dry, degree-dipping climate. Our summer day temperatures are similar, but night temps drop 40-50 degrees, and winter lows can be in the negative teens. Roughly 80% of the plants growing in Milwaukie cannot survive here due to the extremely arid environment and cold nights. Neither can fleas!

A slice of bread left on the counter for 20 minutes goes stale. The 4,000' elevation skews cooking times and recipe ingredients. With 300 days of sunshine shades and a hat become daily companions and I always have a jacket or sweater in the trunk for chilly evenings at the lake.

Cougars and wolves and bears (OH MY!) occasionally ramble through my backyard. ALL of my neighbors own guns. Some winters I have had 5'-6' snow on my property for 1-2 months and generally we have snow on the ground from November-Marchish.

My point is this is a bigger change than 99% of the world will face in the next 100 years due to climate change.

My wife and I moved to a very different climate, adapted and embraced our new environment within the first year, with no discernible harm to either of us. Just the opposite actually.

Not what you were going for but I love that song and it reminds me of the lack of decent music for young kids. I saw on the local news that Taylor Swift released a new song recently.

Holy shit this stuff is terrible.

What do you mean by not what I was going for? That song can have different meanings.. I look at it as a big fuck you to businesses and corporations and commercialism. Also about religion if you want it to be. Or just general groupthink practices.

(Not editing out that part but..) Damnit, now I know what you meant by it. AND YES.

Yeah... 90s and early 2000s was a great time for music. Sure there was some shitty music, but man the emotion behind music at that time was awesome.

I’m still most worried about nukes. Mankind will adapt to the other stuff. But if enough nukes go off? It’s game over.

Electronic war....Nations succeeding in shutting down of power grids is pretty scary...shutting down navigation systems and power...something they've cautioned we're way behind in protecting here in the States...China claims it can shut Taiwan down in about 20 minutes without firing a shot
