In many marriages, a man cannot win no matter what in the world he does for His Wife, kids, et al. Marriage for more than a few years is a dying institution, ....... Kim and I are at 33 and counting.......
I've always believed that marriage was like a 3 ring circus............... Engagement RING Wedding RING & Suffer-RING.
To true these last couple of decades or more........ You know, when Kim and I were seriously dating, and talk, chat of Marriage came into play. I had been laid off for 6 months from Lockheed. During that time; I was drilling water wells, in this hot fkn desert for a short while; working from 6am to Midnight every flipping day, 7 days a week, but not making shit for Money........ So I quit, and sat like a hermit recluse in my home for the next 6 months, until I had little cash or savings....... That was the point, when I met Kim, and after meeting her, within one week, I found a damn good paying job, and never looked back....... I'm overlooking my point. So many kids get married today, and are either not financially or mentally ready to tie the knot, I wasn't ready, so we didn't, UNTIL, like I promised her, I will not think about asking you to marry me, until I can buy you a Diamond Engagement Ring and a Wedding Ring, as well as pay off my truck, and close Escrow on a House I bought, all in the same month....... My point, is Marriage and its ability to survive long term, is a true scarce thing these days. Kim did not need a diamond ring, she would of been fine with a beer tab for a ring....but that just wouldn't be proper IMO.........so you get my point.......??? in other words, 'get all your Ducks in a row, before even considering tying the knot forever', as well get all your jollies or yahoos out of your blood before creating and raising kids......... that is the only way, IMO, our marriage has lasted this long, and will til eternity. Kim is truly my soul mate. I don't think I ever mentioned, running into her and meeting her 4 different occasions over 9 years, before we even knew the other.........1st time, I met Kim was in Co. Springs, she worked in a Dunkin Donuts around the corner from where I was staying at my aunts, 16 and a hot looking chick. At 18, as a cook/asst mgr of a Denny's I threw her and her drunken entourage of girls out of Denny's for dancing on the tables, yet another 7 years would pass, before we would meet for the final time.........no doubt paths crossing, as if it were Divine Intervention itself..........!!! The most important thing, moreso than a diamond ring, was getting a good Aerospace Job, so Kim, and Her 1st two boys, could have good Health Insurance........
geezus moon walking christ, I don't enjoy reading my own novels, thus why would anyone else........... back to the basics of posting..........Posting 101 rule #1, Keep it short, simple and to the point, and that is all..........
Your "War & peace" style of posting has served you well over the years my friend. Keep the good posts coming.
Old Hank Williams Tune: You can't live with 'em, You can't live without 'em, Yet there's something mighty, necessary 'bout The man wrote some really profound observations about relationships in his songs!
One of the first shooting stars to die so young......... the demons Hank fought with daily, and seeing His life go from rags to riches sooo quick, had to have innate probs in itself...... Hats off to Hank, one of Country and Western's most brilliant Musicians to ever sing a note........and damn all his work IMO is top notch, as good as it gets...........
I remember the months leading up to yours and Heather's Wedding, and your, Honeymoon, which sounded so grand.....! It reminded me then, and still, of how fortunate I am to of found my true soul mate, ...... it sure doesn't seem like 9 yrs have flown by this fast, since I first read of your life's developing ambitions, as a young man, on the ESPN Boards...... those are memories, I don't, can't forget, because they remind me alot of my own admiration of my own wife, and til death do us part, for richer or poorer, sickness and in health, .........ye' know the rest Chief....
Come to PaPa, "Rick I am your Father"..........and your name is Luke prior to Rick........ I know you hate Star Wars, so: this is for you buddy......a parody which I think ye' might like..........
Thank yee... We are hoping to make it back to Williamsburg again (where we honeymooned) next year... Not in the cards this year... But yeah, time has flown
