Since Ted Stevens won last night (or will, whatever), he's not going to serve in the Senate for another term. He's a convicted felon...he will be expelled. Sarah Palin will appoint the new Senator. If she wants to run in 2012 or 2016, she should think about appointing herself, work on major legislation like Sen. McCain (and unlike President Obama), and develop a niche for foreign affairs. If she can't appoint herself, then she should step down with the agreement with the lieutenant governor would appoint her. The lieutenant governor is Sean Parnell, a Republican. He ran against Don Young, another corrupt jackass in the Ted Stevens mold, for Alaska's congressional seat. He lost by 300 votes. He obviously wants higher office, and would certainly return the favor for Palin if she wants to go to Washington. Or she could just stay in Juneau and govern and run again in 2012. Thoughts?
She's got nothing to do in politics - she is ignorant of issues, which goes to show that you just can't have an "ordinary hockey mom" in politics. Foreign affairs? She knows nothing about the world, she hadn't even traveled outside the country before 2006!
I hope she goes away although I have no doubt that she will do whats best to prep herself for her run in 2012. I have nothing against her, but I think she would be a disaster as President. I hope the conservatives rallies around someone smart to lead their party. They went with Bush when they should probably of went with McCain in 2000. Hopefully they don't go with Palin when they can go with someone such as Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. That's just my opinion.
Word out of their camp is that Palin was resistant to tutoring (preferring to have stock answers to memorize instead) then angry after she repeatedly embarrassed herself. Doesn't sound like the kind of person that is going to invest four years in learning economics and international affairs. Honestly, she couldn't give the correct answer for what a VP does in the weeks leading up to the election. Talk about bare minimum.
Which, as I said before in my post, could make her strike a deal with her Lt. Governor to resign and be appointed as Senator.
Yeah...and who serves until the Special election? The governors of the states appoint Senators to serve the term until a special election. As Governor, Sarah Palin will be required by Alaskan state law to appoint a Republican to the Senate.
Nobody serves until the special election. When Sen. Frank Murkowski was elected governor of Alaska, he appointed his daughter Lisa to replace him. The people got upset about it and the law was changed.
You're right I completely overlooked that. I have no doubt she would win the special election. I think the voters there would see why she wants to go to Washington and support her.
Well, you see when you live in the coldest state in the U.S., your mind gets a thin layer of frost that freezes over, which ultimately gives you frostbite, that then leads into them being brain dead. So they live in taverns drinking to try to warm-up, then they appoint the highest intellectual character as their leader, which usually is the best hunters their leaders, which is why Sarah Palin can shoot out of a helicopter....capiche?
