Denny please explain your reasons for stating that garnett is the best player in the nba since the retirement of pippen? Ever heard of Kobe Bryant? obviously not.
Garnett is a 7'er who played SF and SG, handled the ball and scored like Pippen (even better), but was a better rebounder. A top defender his whole career. The HOF is a lot harder to get in than you might think. Only a handful who play over a 10 year period actually get in.
Doing a bit of research on this. There have been about 10,000 players in NBA history. There are just 258 players, coaches, and others in the HOF. The last players enshrined were Barkley, Dumars, and Dominique Wilkins in 2006. Going back to 2000, these other players have been enshrined: McAdoo, I. Thomas, Moses Malone, Robert Parish, James Worthy, and Drexler. That's 9 players in 9 years.
International players and MVPs get extra HOF points, so I think Nowitzki is a likely eventual HOF. Kidd will get in. I think Yao, though not particularly accomplished, will likely get in at some point. Paul Pierce greatly increased his chances with his Finals MVP. I'm pretty confident that Dwyane Wade will be a first-ballot HOF at some point. I think Mutombo gets in, eventually.
If they win another, it's obviously more likely. People talk about the celtics like they have 3 HOFers. I'm not sure they have more than 1, but they do have 3 guys who are top 25 type players.
You actually think his shooting percentage is going to affect his chances to make it into the HOF? Kidd is absolutely a lock because he's one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game. Cousy's career shooting percentage was 38%, and he's in the HOF. Excluding Kidd from the HOF because of his lackluster shooting percentage is a joke.
I'll have to say.... Kobe Duncan Garnett LeBron Paul Kidd Iverson Shaq Nash (though if he only wins one MVP, he has no shot in my humble opinion) To me, these guys are the only "locks" per se, though there are quite a few others that could get in too.
Jason Kidd in his prime was one of the top point guards to ever play in the league. He's definitely going to make it.
