Okay my fellow Knick fans, this is how the break down is?The Knicks are currently 26-34. That means they are 4 games behind the Pacers for the 8th place in the eastern conference. Now important news just came out, Jermaine O?Neal might miss the rest of the regular season with an injury which will clearly boost our chances of making the 8th seed and especially with this recent streak the Knicks have been on. That will mean the Knicks will pretty much be locked up in a first round series against the Miami Heat.

Now, only 1.5 more games than our distance from the Pacers, the Celtics are in front of us. If the Knicks continue this confidence they?ve been playing with, it will not be out of the question for us to take the Atlantic division. So basically, these next few games will really determine the future of these New York Knickerbockers. Looking at the bigger picture, they?re also 5 games behind Orlando and Chicago for 7th and 6th in the east. It?s more unlikely, but again, if we take advantage of our opportunities, it is possible.

My question to you is, if the Knicks have opportunities (which they do), to make it to the playoffs, would you want it? If they made it as the 3rd, would you support that option? What about 8th? If they took it to game 6 in the second round, would you rather that than a lottery pick? It all boils down to what would you want take a chance on seeing how well we can advance in the playoffs, or just tank the season and get a good lottery pick.

Now, the numbers are inaccurate because Boston won a toughie vs. Detroit, Philly won an easy won against Charlotte, and the Raptors lost which creates more space for us. [IMG] We are down more games simply because of this 4 game break. We have played 2 less games than everyone in the division so we could be closer.

If you have a chance for the playoffs I say go for it. No one wants to deliberately tank a season.

I want to deliberately tank the season.

For us to make the 8th seed we have to win all of our home games and steal a few road games. Now let's be serious here. We simply cant win on the road and some of the home games are against teams like the Spurs and Supersonics. Needless to say I dont like the odds. All we'd be doing is seriously hurting our chances in the lottery. Even if we were to make the playoffs we'd be a pass for the Heat to go to the second round. I know everyone wants to be in the playoffs but making the playoffs isn't really that great of an achievement. We should be setting our sights a little higher than just making the playoffs. We should not get excited about being eliminated easily in the first round.
