You have to keep them to prove that you bought the music. You could go to jail if you don't. Or you could donate them to Goodwill and take the tax deduction.
If the CD's are the actual real CD albums and not just some burnt copy I would self them and save them. Pass them down. 30-40 years from now they will be long gone obsolete and worth money.
Just dealt with this last summer. Decided to get rid of my 2000+ DVD collection and more than that CD collection. Tried to bring tons of boxes down to a pace called Everyday Music on NE Sandy and they just rolled their eyes. I had a box of like 200 CDs and he said he'd give me $20 for them.......Or he said bring in a handful everyday and he'd give me $20! There is just so much out there. Breaking them down and selling a few at a time at a store or on Craiglist will be the most profitable. I gave my WHOLE collection to our next door neighbor's kid who goes to UofO.......I told him he can do whatever he wants with them as long as I get a %. Last XMAS break he walked up and gave me $500 and at Spring Break he gave me another $400. Said he made a killing.
Sounds like a Dateline story. "The quiet kid next door walked up to his neighbor and handed him five crisp $100 bills, telling him he'd made a killing on Craigslist. But while the neighbor thought he meant ads for used CD's, the teen had actually been selling...murder."
Wow, you guys went way darker with that then I did. I read it and figured HCP accidentally included some of Mrs HCP's sex videos in with the DVDs.
At which point all the money will be in toilet paper, aka the currency of the future. Think about it, our money today is made out of paper. It's not that crazy to think...or is it!?
The last money would have been biological. Or tied to your DNA. People will be lucky to get rags to use as tp. But save your cd collection...you will be rich!
