I can attest to this. I just got rid of a nice BMW because it was just a pain in ass. For example, weirdly, everything took two pushes. Had to push the start button twice to start it, and to turn it off. Had to pull the handle twice to open the door. Had to hit the button twice to open the moonroof. It wasn't broken, just designed that way. The first push was always some intermedient setting. They overthought it. I'll never buy one again.

Yeah, the AMX was very light and from zero to 60, very fast...but after I got up to 70 or above it became squirrely as hell...., and all over the road.

Question for you, do you LOVE to drive? Like I DO! I actually look forward to driving. No matter where I am going or what time it is. I want to get in my car and drive. For some people a car is how you get from one place to another. So that would be a huge determining factor on what's important to you.

When we went to Central Oregon a week ago, I absolutely had a BLAST driving this road......so much so, went back down and did it again. I think the joy of driving a finely tuned performance vehicle far outweighs the costs of maintenance.

Sorry to go on and on, but there is no better place than the old Columbia River Gorge Highway......When I am rallying on that road, it's like I'm in a damn movie. Total escape for me. And just so you know, I drive like a grandma IN town.

Yes I do, but I'll say I don't have the driving stamina I had before when I was young....and I'm a great driver....now at 66 I cramp up after a couple hours on the road and need to take a break...circulation ain't what it used to be I guess. I don't drive without a purpose anymore much unless I need to drive my Xterra to keep the battery charged.....I was really into motorcycles most of my youth and those I'd drive just to drive and absolutely loved...

Watch the Last Run with George C Scott...it's a thriller with him driving a BMW racing through winding European coastal and mountain roads with the camera shots from the wheels....first film to do that...great old film....hope I remember the title correctly

Love driving. Since Covid started and I no longer spend the weekends meeting my "car" friends - I am using the time to drive a lot more. I have been on a Lake kick recently.

Saturday morning took an old Alfa to Lake Hodges.

Sunday morning took an old Mazda to Lake Sutherland.

Brand new 1975 Chevy Nova SS. I accidentally let it roll down our driveway and crash into the neighbor's rock wall.. Mom was SO pissed! Dad was, like, "OK, son...honest mistake."

My Dad was the coolest person on the planet.

That makes three of us. I just sold my '69 Spider. Loved it, but it needed someone more mechanical than me.

My father loved his WW2 era 1939 Packard. He had a milk/ice cream business that I grew up into. When I was very young my cousin and I started his Divco milk truck and ran it into the wall as I lifted the clutch pedal. What a sight! He was standing on the other side of the wall. I think I was grounded for three years.
