I was watching some TV and they were talking about how the rest of the world views America. The perception of the United States is that we mettle, that we are the world's police, and that we stick our nose where it doesn't belong. It got me thinking and I started to wonder what would happen if there was an immediate shift in policy and the US pulled all our troops back. We leave Europe. We leave Korea. We leave the Middle East. We bring our Navy home and put them in dry dock. What would happen? Would the world go into upheaval or would it work itself out? When something like Syria comes up, and we want nothing to do with it. Not politically, not militarily, no humanitarily (yes I made that word up). What would happen if we ceased all aid, both financially and militarily to the rest of the world and just focused on our own country?
I would love to back out of places. Mainly because we don't need to be fighting right now and I would love to see the world beg for us to come back for the lulz because I hate hypocrites.
If we stopped defending the world's shipping lanes, we'd have to become North America energy sufficient because it would be impossible to get oil from the Middle East.
Or maybe the middle east would use some of their oil money to build their own protective navy. Otherwise, their precious natural resources would be difficult to sell and they would fall back into barren desert areas. No? I am not a fan of meddling in other countries civil wars. We are enough in debt - why give other countries money and support for negligible benefit here at home? Yeah, over time I have become a semi-isolationist. Gramps...
