Ray Allen and Vladimir Radmanovich for Eddie Jones and Dorrell Wright

    Ridnour/Daniels
    Murray/E. Jones/Wright
    Lewis/E. Jones/Wright
    Collison/Fortson
    Potapenko/Swift

    Wade/D. Jones
    Allen/Wade/Person
    Radmanovich/Butler/Person
    Haslem/Allen
    O'Neal/Doleac

Sure, we don't get a starter back in the deal, but it really is addition by subtraction. Cut down the rotation, the back-up 2/3 can come in to provide a nice combination of O and D. We shore up the 'golden generation' with Dorrell Wright join Flip, Shard, Luke, Nick and Casanova Swift. Radmanovich is essentially filler in the deal, easily replaceable.

    Thoughts? Flames?

I think that the Sonics could get more for Allen, but I'm w/ you, sometimes you need addition by subtraction. If we could get a young blooming star in the process (preferably a big point guard) I'd be all for it. Jonathan Bender could be on the blocks. How about an Allen/Radmanovic/Daniels trade for Bender/Tinsley/Fred Jones/2005 first round draft pick?

    Supes lineup

    Tinsley/Ridnour
    Flip/Jones/FA
    Lewis/Bender
    Fortson/Collison/Evans
    Potapenko/James/Swift

    Pacers lineup

    Daniels/Johnson/Brewer
    Allen/Miller
    Artest/S. Jackson
    Foster/Radmonovic
    O'Neal/Pollard/Harrison

Indiana would have the best bench in the league and they would have insurance if Allen decided to not to resign w/ the Pacers. Seattle would have a great core of young players to build around.

If I'm trading Ray to Indiana, I want Artest back (or JO, but we all know that's impossible). I don't think you'd have to give up that much to snare Bender, who I rate pretty highly; maybe Radmanovic, Daniels and a second rounder for Bender and Tinsley. As for the Miami deal, I don't mind it, but I'd probably want to get someone like Rasual Butler back from the Heat as well, or at the very least a first rounder.

Addition by subtraction does seem like a good method, but I would much prefer us getting some expiring contracts with a deal like this. Also I would only do a deal like this if something couldn't get done to give us a starting pg or c.

I'd want Artest back too but considering our lineup, where would he play? Rashard Lewis is not a power forward and Artest is not a shooting guard (or at least he isn't better than Flip at that position IMO). I think that a first round draft pick would justify us giving up on three potential FA for the 2005-2006 season. I also think that Indiana would jump at the opportunity to sign Ray Allen even if is only for a year.

With this trade, we would have enough cap room to get a legitimate All-Star via free agency. Tinsley, to me, is the most underrated point guard in the league. In the right system he could lead the league in assists. Bender has star potential, even though he is no where close to tapping into it. Jones, I believe would jump at the chance of being reunited with his buddy Ridnour. And the draft pick will soften the blow of the trade. The more I think about it, the more I would love to make a deal with the Pacers.

I think the Sonics could get a lot more, and Miami would be winning out huge on that trade...Also, I dont think this would even cross Miami's mind cuz they're not gonna trade their prized rookie...

That's not nearly enough in return. I realize it's addition by subtraction, but both the players we're trading are better than their counterparts given up by the Heat. If we're going to let Jones go at the end of the season, anyway, we might as well wait and see if there are better deals for Allen near the deadline.

Yea I agree, no use in trading just to trade. Unless we feel were getting the good end of the deal you're not going to just dispose of a player like Ray Allen.

Fair enough, but sooner or later you've got to make a call. Trade him and risk not getting equal value back staright away, or signing him to a huge extension.

I know what you mean, my thinking is that you use this time before you have to make such a rash decision on trying to get a good deal. I would only trade for lesser value as a last minute type thing.

I can see where you're coming from, but who's going to give up anything better at the trade deadline if he isn't re-signed? That's a risky way to do things, considering he's already said if he's a free agent after next season, he likely won't be coming back.

I'm not saying definately trade him, but unless we're prepared to sign him to that extension, we are better off IMO trading now than leaving it until the deadline.

A deal like this is definately a last minute thing. If we can't come to agreements on an extension and we can't find any better offers than I could definately see something like this going down.
