I think we call that the 'waiting area'.

After doing some digging, there really isn't alot of details of the spending breakdown. The various topics are named, but not in details that i would like to know, in order to give a solid, in depth opinion.
With that said, they hit all the points i think they need to, to be successful. All thats left is how its implemented, the homeless are tracked and put into proper placements for their individual needs.
It reads as though its in their hands to fuck up a good thing. Lets hope they implement the programs in the right order, to minimize circlejerks and extra expenditures. due to repetition. If run right it seems like it could be a successful, cost effective program that breeds self sufficiency within those who receive the help.

Oregon Senate holds first committee hearing for rent control bill

I hope this passes. But I fear the rent is already too high in Portland as these heartless a-holes have waited far too long to introduce this bill.

I have a friend I am currently helping to keep from becoming homeless. So this issue is important to me. If nobody else likes it, they can straight up go screw themselves.

Im a believer in positive re-enforcement for anything or anyone. You have been one to bring up positive things with regards to the City of Roses. I appreciate that. There's room for improvement for all things, and it takes a positive attitude and approach, with a plan to make a diffrence.
I had allowed a personal incident to somewhat steal my admiration for the downtown area, for a period, but have regain it back, because I have so many great memories of the area as a youngster and adult. I looking forward to spending more time downtown and around this spring and summer.

My rent is going up 25.3% in May. Good thing I'm getting a 3% raise at work! That'll cover the increased rent and rising costs of literally everything else..

No thanks. Hopefully I'll be moving away from Portland in the next couple years, but I wouldn't choose any of those places.

I was priced out of an apartment 6 1/2 years ago, when the new owners raised the rent $325 in 6 months time. The 2nd increase was around 33%. If it wasn't for a dumb luck deal I fell into, I am not sure where I would be living right now. As I can't afford an apartment anywhere in the metro area.

Good luck to you. My kids are 4th generation here in our neighborhood and turned out pretty great. As somebody who travels around the world for work….trust when I tell you I could have raised them in much worse places.Once again, good luck.

Thanks. I don't think Portland is a shithole or anything, I just think there may be a better place for me and my wife personally to settle down, for financial and familial reasons. But we're not going to rush into anything, so anything is possible.

Portland (and Portland metro) has totally priced people out of living there/here. My sister's house has more than quadrupled in value and the only thing she has done to it is live in it for 10 years.

In fact, she couldn't afford her house today if she had to buy it again.

Portland triple homicide victims ID’d; 2 in high school

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The victims in Portland’s broad daylight triple homicide were identified publicly Tuesday, and 2 of them were high school students.

Eskender Tamra, 17, was a junior at Franklin High School. Babu Daudi (also identified as Isaac Daudi) was a 19-year-old senior at Roosevelt High School. The third person was 20-year-old Patrick Johnson of Portland.

Autopsies confirmed their deaths by gunshot wounds, officials said.

All 3 were found dead inside a car left at the intersection of North Foss Avenue and Foss Court after gunfire rang out around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests have yet been made.

“PPS extends our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and will respect their desire to mourn in privacy,” PPS wrote in an email that was sent to families. “We recognize the enormous toll that gun violence has taken on the city of Portland, and we will continue to work alongside the city, county, and state leaders to find impactful solutions to this problem.”

PPB Sgt. Kevin Allen told KOIN 6 News on Saturday the motive of the shooting was not yet known.

“We don’t know whether it was personal, whether it was random,” he said. “Those things are all part of the investigation. So yeah, we’re super concerned.”

A memorial was created in honor of the victims at the site of the shooting, which brought Portland’s total homicides this year to 17 – 16 of which were by gunfire.

In a statement, Mayor Ted Wheeler said:

“The murder of three people over the weekend is still an active investigation and we continue to seek information from the public to bring justice to those impacted by this tragedy. As such, we are limited in the information we are able to provide at this time. My team and I have been in regular communication with the Portland Police Bureau and our public safety partners. We have deployed additional police personnel from the Enhanced Community Safety Team, Homicide Unit & Focused Intervention Team to investigate and provide further assistance. Staff from the Office of Violence Prevention and outreach partners continue to meet with those who have been impacted by this violence. We have also redeployed street level outreach teams to connect with community members and interrupt further safety disruptions.”

    This investigation is ongoing.
