Seems Atlanta is having a hard time coming to terms with him. They could use a guy like Krstic at center and move Horford to PF. If the Nets were willing to do a deal starting at around $10-12mm for 6 years they maybe able to convince Atlanta to do a S&T with a package of Krstic, Sean, KVH, and maybe Ager and a pick.

Question #1) Do you like Smith and think his style of play would be a good fit here?
Question #2) Do you think he has the right attitude?
Question #3) Do you think he's worth that kind of money?
Question #4) Is he duplicate of what Yi should bring to the team? Is he a 3 or 4?

They couldn't keep Childress because they don't wanna spend the money. Not sure they want to commit $10mm a year for 6 years to anyone. Recently saw an article that said that was what the Hawks offered and management came out and flatly denied it.

Doesn't mess with Lebron. Nets are committed to about $36mm in 2010. That's before 2009 rookies and assuming Boone and Sean options are not exercised. Salary cap will be about $64mm. It's tight, but there is room for another player making about $10-12mm. Sure makes things more attractive for Lebron.

    Move Carter.

If the Hawks are willing to make this trade suggested, offer Carter for Wally.

In 2 years if not earlier, outside of LBJ, Smith will be the best player of the guys currently on the Hawks, Nets and Cavs.

    answers....

    1) i personally love smith... hes a SF that can play most PFs due to his leapin ability and lenght... hes super athletic... yes i think he would fit here with devin, vc, and Yi...
    2) well i hear that he has butted heads with his coach... but frank has always gotten along with most of his players... and with the veterans on the team (VC, devin -yes i consider him a vet on the team, Najera, hayes, and even simmons) he could be controlled.
    3) im guess ur sayin 10-12 mill per year rite? in that case... yes i think hes worth it... remember this guy made KG work in that ATL vs BOS series
    4) absolutely not... hes a 3, but he can play most 4's and hes more of an attacker then a jumpshooter...

Question #1) Do you like Smith and think his style of play would be a good fit here? Yes, very much so.
Question #2) Do you think he has the right attitude? I think he's a competitor but he does let his emotions get the best of him and can be a downright baby if things are going bad but he's still very young and matured every season so far.
Question #3) Do you think he's worth that kind of money? Absolutely.
Question #4) Is he duplicate of what Yi should bring to the team? Is he a 3 or 4? I'm not completely familiar with Yi but Josh is about as well rounded of a basketball player as it gets. He's a 4 who can effectively play at the 3.

The Hawks were at their strongest last season when Horford was holding down the 5 spot alongside Josh because they had each others backs defensively with their different skill sets and their respective athleticism. If that trade were to go down, I think Horford would continue to hold down the center spot and Nenad would play the 4, Sean would come off the bench, Ager could also get a long hard look now that Childress is gone.

The thing that people don't understand is that Josh is the second best play maker on that team after Joe Johnson and adding Sean and Nenad only puts that much more pressure on Joe to initiate the offense unless Law and Bibby all of a sudden become point guards and not 2 guards who bring the ball up.

If Smith was willing to sign with the Nets in a S&T, or play for the QO with the Hawks, I wonder if the Hawks would be willing to take this trade rather than lose him for nothing next season.

Krstic, Sean, Ager, KVH contract and a 1st rd pick is a pretty good offer. They could probably get Nenad on a 2 year deal for $5-6mm a year.

Nets could offer Josh a 6 year/$75mm deal starting at $10mm and increasing $1mm a year. Would be worth $13mm in 2010. If the cap is $64mm the Nets would have $13mm to offer Lebron, but they could easily move someone before then and free up another $2-3mm. Also, the cap could be more than $64mm.

Starters could be: Harris, Carter, Smith, Yi, and Boone
Bench would be: Najera, Lopez, Dooling, Simmons, CDR, Hayes and Anderson

Seems like hopeful wishing, but it appears there is some really bad blood forming between the Hawks and Smith. When that happened to Brand and the Clips he bolted.

well, apparently Lebron would only come to us in a S&T, so we could send to the Cavs salary back and still be ok

Who cares about LeBron when Josh Smith would be on this team. Of course he is no LBJ, but he does have qualities to build around him and Harris.

Would still have room to add LBJ. Just need about $14-15mm to be a serious contender and Cleveland will do a S&T.

Could have a team with Lebron, Harris, Smith, Carter and hopefully players like Yi, Lopez, CDR, and Anderson will develop. Plus we have 1st round pick in 2009, and two in 2010 (but we'd probably need to send one of these to ATL).

Probably slim, but the more time passes the less likely I think he signs with ATL. If not ATL then why not the Nets? Thorn and Kiki were both Kenyon fans and Josh has a little Kenyon in his game. Seems like the kind of bold move they would make.

Childress signing with a Greek team had to really hurt Atlanta's chances of convincing Josh they are a serious team. They've been dicking those guys around pretty bad.

This would be unlikely. Josh Smith wants huge cash, that we wouldn't take from LA or Philly. Now that Childress is gone, they are going to throw huge money at Smith. The Hawks wouldn't take Carter for Smith. Josh would be great on any team, but Sund wants Smith around.

Well, I think Sund wants to give more money to Smith, so letting Childress go didn't hurt him to much. I don't like letting Childress go, but that's the NBA. Sund better act soon and get Smith signed or I'll be pissed.

Both. I follow both teams pretty close now. Raptors more than Hawks, but I catch 30-40 Hawks games a year.
