Before I begin; I want to say I'm a huge fan of wess. I only say the first pre-season game; so my eye test has a small sample size. I've been noticing the stats on box scores.

It seems Matthews just isn't all there. Doesn't seem as interested in the game that got us to love him. Is he disinterested? Hurt? Or am I just looking into this too hard?

Seeing him in person here in Boise one of the first things that comes to mind is that he always looks .... gimpy is the best word I can think of. I dont know if thats just how he carries himself or if his all out play has started to catch up with him

He looks out of shape... which is strange. I don't know honestly. He definitely hasn't been himself in the first few games. I'd like to see him once preseason is over and he's had a chance to get back into game shape.

My eye test looks like he's not as invested. It was a preseason game; so there that to think about. I just hope this doesn't carry over to the regular season.

Yeah isn't he a gym rat? I remember reading his twitters about hitting the gym everyday.

I hope it's something like you suggested. Maybe he gained too much muscle and it's weighing him down?

He went to Germany this off season and had the same treatment Kobe gets in his knee done to his ankle. He wasn't able to work out this off season the same as he had in prior years because of this. From the accounts I read he looked good in Boise.

In his case, I'm kind of glad if he rested in the offseason, as his body could really do with some time off. But I'm NOT pleased to hear that he needs the Magic Blood treatment on his ankle, because that implies that it's beyond the help of most normal things.

I'm concerned about Wes. I can't remember if he came out this slow in other preseasons, but Wes isn't the kind of player who can't hit a switch. His work ethic and getting the most out of his athletic ability is his trademark. Still early preseason, hopefully he continues to get better every game, then he should be ready when the season starts.

It's preaseason, he is working into shape, and again... it's preseason.

Once real games start he will go back to being his normal 15/2/2 and pretty good defender self.

I think Wes is a very hard worker but I have always felt he is a bit overrated by Blazers fans.

Overrated how? I dont see anyone calling him a star. I think most people call him a decent starter and leave it at that.

Could be. Remember, he was originally signed to be our 6th man. He's filled in nicely at starting SG over the last few years, but is probably best suited for what he once was; shooting outside and playing good D on the ball....off of the bench. He's one of my favorites on the team, though. His heart is unmatched by any of the other guys.

If he played for a different team I don't think anyone would be calling to burn the house down to get him.

Preseason means nothing. LeBron scored 9 points in a game. What's wrong with him??? Has The King fallen from his throne?
