Who do you hope to acquire in the next few years, via draft and free agency, to get us back to the top in 2018-2019? I'm curious as to what fans think we should do down the road. I'm hoping for Brandon Ingram in next year's draft. He's built like Durant and can score in many ways. He should go between the 4th and 7th picks. In 2017, I hope we can draft Jayson Tatum. He's a Batum type player, with a better handle who is more aggressive and can atrack the rim. We'd probably have to trade up to #3 to get him, but the draft is deep, and we should have the pieces to do it. PG Lillard (36) / CJ (12) / Montero SG Tatum (30) / CJ (18) / Pat SF Ingram (34) / Aminu (14) PF Vonleh (32) / Davis (16) C Leonard (30) / Plumlee (18) Ingram could be a 20 ppg scorer, and if Leonard, CJ, and Vonleh develop well, we could be looking at a potentially better team then we had last year, and we'd have an offensive juggernaut, with Aminu and Davis off the bench for defense. We'd also have $30M-$40M in cap space to build a bench or to do a lopsided trade.
We can easily have 45 or so million in cap space next year, so Dame CJ Durant/Aminu Lebron/Davis Leonar_/Vonleh Anything else is a complete failure
Damian Lillard / Avery Bradley (via trade) Jamal Murray ('16 draft) / CJ McCollum Farouq Aminu / Allen Crabbe Noah Vonleh / Ed Davis Meyers Leonard / Mason Plumlee
Not sure who I'd want at the bigs. I think Leonard breaks out this year, and I'm hoping plums ends up really good next to him As far as near future, I'd love derozan at sg. And Ben Simmons at sf In the draft. Then add to that the following year based on how it turns out
I'd love Labissiere. I think his ceiling is as good as Anthony Davis is right now... He'll be the best player from this next draft. If we're able to draft him and DMC is on the market I could see us trying to send out Vonleh Plumlee and some other pieces/picks. Skal and DMC would be awesome together.
I want the Blazers to do well this year, so no Simmons or Brown. I also am hoping for a trade for McLemore. Dame/CJ McLemore/Furkan Korkmaz (#10, 2016) Aminu/Harkless Vonleh/Davis Leonard/Plumlee Of course, this omits consideration of use of cap space.
Tatum and Ingram are both SFs. Also, IF we landed Ingram, I doubt we have a pick even in the lottery the following year to trade up for. Also, I hope we aren't in the lottery the next 2 years. That means...Pretty much, we are developing players for at least the next 4 years and Dame is probably on his way out. If we did get a top pick, I'm trading them unless it's Simmons or Skal.
Tatum can play the 2, and would be a good fit next to Dame. Ingram is gonna be a stud. He's built like Kevin Durant and can score in all kinds of ways. He's a potential 23-25 ppg scorer if he pans out right. The following year, we would probably get a lotto pick, which coupled with a player, another future 1st, and filler could get you up to 2 or 3. Reason why? That draft is DEEP. It's not like 2016 where you have 3 or 4 good players at the top and the rest are trash.. Nope you got Thon Maker, Dennis Smith, Malik Monk, Kobi Simmons and others. http://www.nbadraftroom.com/p/2017-nba-mock-draft.html?m=1 I would take a flyer on Monk. His tape reminds me a little bit of young Dwayne Wade with a 3ball.
Without getting into trade specifics: PG: Damian Lillard SG: Daniel Diez (Draft: Malik Newman?) SF: Al-Farouq Aminu PF: Noah Vonleh C: Alex Len
Diez is in your ideal lineup? Haha Malik Newnan would be a good pick for a starting SG, but Diez? Nahhh
