In 1999 we had a 50 game season that started in January. Many feel 82 games are too many while others enjoy every single game. What do you want?
I'm too jaded and fucked up from this Roy-Oden-LMA cocktease. Cancel the entire season and let me be productive for a year.
It's hard to give a shit when a bunch of NBA players, and some of the them stars, are basically selling themselves as basketball mercenaries to teams in leagues across the globe that have nowhere near the player leverage, let alone strong player unions, as does the NBA. If I'm an owner, the message I'd be getting is these players are willing to play for relative peanuts in leagues nobody gives a shit about, anyhow. The season is basically a lost cause unless the players cave to the 50/50 split, IMO. If the players don't really care about their team or their league, why should any of us?
I'm desperate for NBA basketball right now. WTF is wrong with the rest of you? College ball sucks and football is stupid.
Yesterday! too many people's lives are at stake for these millionaires and billionaires to be messing around. It's just like the government! everyone's only looking out for their own best interest. But yea I'm with YUyuza. NFL has waay to many commercial's and the constant reviews are mind-numbing.
Really sucks to be you man. I have the Ducks and the Niners. I'm not missing basketball at all. Maybe I'll take up hockey if I get too bored when football season ends, but that's not for a few months.
Shame on all of you who don't want there to be a season. Lots of people, including our very own HCP, are jobless because of the lockout. For their sake, I hope it ends tomorrow even though I stand to gain from more Bones episodes on TNT.
I didn't realize that TNT will air Bones episodes in place of NBA games. Why don't you pay your increased royalties to HCP, out of pity? For enough money, you could make him lose a hundred pounds and turn gay. Well, I'm not sure about the hundred pounds.
It isn't about "not wanting there to be a season".... it's more like "don't really care if there is a season." I understand that there are people who are hurting from this, and I feel bad for guys who need the work, but at this point I just really don't care about basketball.
Last time this happened, I went nuts!!!! Take my own situation out of this, I am missing the fuck out of hoops! I would watch a Sacramento vs Milwaukee preseason game over a World Series game in a heartbeat! Basketball is in my blood...... regardless of how this is affecting me financially.
I want it to end now, but not at the cost of the players continuing to get everything they want. It's bad for the game
The 50 game seasons was one of my all time favorite years to follow the NBA. I loved how important each game was and how a short winning streak could have massive effects on standings. It was crazy and exciting how they had back to back to back games. The first few months of the NBA season are boring anyways. Yes I'm a blazer fanatic so I'll pay attention to everything our team does but I really don't care about the sport as a whole very much until January/February. I'm really getting into the NFL this year. Once that's over I'll start to really miss the NBA but until then, screw it. I hope both sides lose, owners and players fighting over a few small percentage points of basketball related income. When it's over it'll be funny if league revenues drop 30% and each side lost far more than if they had accepted earlier offers. The only positive I'm hoping for from the lockout is to fix washed up players being stuck on teams that don't want them for exorbert salaries. In the NFL you can cut a player and remove a large portion of their salary from your cap. The player can then move to a new NFL team where new fans welcome him and he gets a new start. But in the NBA we get suck with overpaid guys that the city, franchise, players and fans no longer want to see. It fosters a bad vibe on the team and an aura of negativity that is bad for the sport.
On a personal individual level yes I feel bad for HCP and people in his same situation who have everyday jobs and lose out on their source of income. But for our economy as a whole does the lockout even have a negative effect? Other sports and entertainment events will have more demand, maybe that creates a few better jobs in those sectors or elevates someone from a minimum wage job to a liveable wage. If season ticket holders can put the money towards a different use, maybe one of them buys a car instead which helps manufactuers or salesmen. Just because the NBA eliminates games I'm not certain there is a net negative effect on our economy. Yes for the individuals we know like HCP it really sucks ass.
