That there were two players with 30 or more PPG on the same team. I know chances are neither one will be above 30 in a month or two but regardless. At any point in the season (besides the first couple weeks) for any amount of time, when's the last time something like this happened? I know Jerry West and Elgin Baylor did it for a few seasons, are they the only ones? And for that matter, when's the last time a team has had the top two scoring leaders in the league excluding the first few weeks of the season?
Well, the last team that is remotley close to these two players in scoring is the Lakers team with Kobe and Shaq. I would bet alot that Melo and AI average about what Kobe and Shaq did for those few years. They will definitely not average 30 or more a game......there just arent enough shots to go around.
Never. I just saw this somewhere today when reading an AI trade article. The cclosest was Vandeweghe and English, but they were never a 30-30 combo.
Yeah, I don't think there have ever been two palyers on one team to average 30+ for an extended period of time

Kobe and Shaq came close. But AI won't get his 30 in denver with Melo and JR in town. HE is going to distribute the ball IMO.

I thought the question was when was the last players to have 30 points in a game together that were on the same team. I didn't know it was a question for the average in a season.
They should be able to keep this up for another month though, with Carmelo out and Iverson really having to carry the scoring load.

Oh and another question about this trade.Since Joe Smith (1995) and Iverson (1996) have just been traded, when's the last time two number one picks have swapped places for eachother?
Guys, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West never did this..I was wrong though...Elgin and Jerry were the closest to doing this probably ever in 1960, when Elgin finished with 29.6 ppg.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Clangus @ Dec 19 2006, 08:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>ai will be gettin 21 and 12 imo</div>WAY off. He'll definitely score more than 21, and if andre miller couldn't get 12 apg on this team, what would make you think iverson could? and do you really think iverson is a better true point guard than steve nash? please.
The closest Kiki and Alex came was when Kiki got over 30, and Alex got 26....In 1960, Elgin Baylor was literally .4 ppg off of doing this with Jerry West.

Interesting question. The only one I remember is Ralph Sampson being traded to Golden State for Joe Barry Carroll. Sampson was the #1 overall pick in 1983 and Carroll was the #1 pick in 1980.
