I first heard of LeBron when he was 8th grade. I was in 6th at the time now im a junior in high school. I think most people heard of him once his games were televised or when he was on SI. So in all honesty when was the first time you heard about him.

My first was a few years ago. The word around the Cleveland streets was that there was this kid who was just ill, who had these Kobe, T-Mac type moves but could pass like Magic.

I was like "yeah right, what good ever comes out of Ohio?"

But like anything I looked into him first before making a judgement on him.

First thing that shocked me was his size, I mean he looked like a 6'8" Amare Stoudemire, he was just fully developed it semed, very cut. I saw a few dunks and I was like "how is he getting up that high?" I mean he was putting hit head above the rim for cryin out loud. And just when I thought that I have seen it all, I seen him pass the ball, and that just blew me away. First thing that came to my mind was Kidd/Magic.

Then I learned that the high school player that was in Michael Jordan's secret workouts (Wizards comeback) was in fact LeBron James. LeBron just finished the 10th grade then, and was holding his own in those workouts against players like Jerry Stackhouse and Corey Maggette.

The Cavs also invited James to Cleveland for a workout which lead to then coach John Lucas being suspended. James dunked on Jumaine Jones and Chris Mihm, and I will never forget what Lucas said after the workout...

    "Gotta have him"

I then learned that Melo actually had pub first before James, but after a workout that featured many top high school stars, the media and scouts went in talking Melo, they left talking Bron.

I watched all the games, read all the articles, I just loved the kids game. I was quoted many times saying that LeBron James would not be a Cavalier . I thought for sure that the NBA would not want him here, but instead a place like Memphis with Jerry West. All the way untill David Stern pulled the Grizz out of the number 2 envelope I just never thought it would happen here.

Boy am I glad it did.

Yeah the throwback jersey and the Hummer situation pretty much boosted his stardom.

The one thing I never understood was this "hype" talk. Not one has yet to explain it. Amazing what people say when their favorite player is no longer headlining Sportscenter...haters. [IMG]

^ Ha, heard that on the ESPM Wolv/Sixer game today. But they had to cover the other games around the league, hard to ignore Bron's performance and not comment [IMG]

I first heard about him when he was in 9th grade. I started hearing stories and reading about a 15 year old kid dropping 30 a game on some quality programs.

He played his tourney games in HS in Canton, but I could never get tickets because the joint was always sold out way in advance. Somehow Shaq and Ron Harper got some tickets, but I couldn't. Imagine that...

A few years ago my cousin told me about Lebron after seeing his school play Lebrons and told me it was the most amazing player he ever saw grace a high school court. Then not long after that I started hear Lebron James name being dropped everywhere.

I saw him in a high school game on ESPN. I didn't exactly knew who he was, but he was doing great in that game, then just everybody kept talking about him.

Hey King James, I wonder what your name would be if LeBron James didn't exist.

    similar to king james,

I first heard of lebron a few years back when he was a freshman at svsm in akron. I was at work downtown and a supervisor of mine is a H.S. basketball guru and lives in akron and brought a camcorder in of a game lebron's freshman year he taped form the stands. and OMG the boy looked like Jordan playing with a bunch of children. That was my first introduction and i went to see a few games over the next few years. he was the best player in the nation in my book as a freshman in H.S.
