Camby would have to be right up there with the top centres in the league wouldn't he?

He can score points when required, pulls in heaps of rebounds (another 20 last night) and does good defence including being a block machine.

So where does he rate? I doubt he'd be ahead of Wallace, Shaq and Yao but would he be next?

I think he's top 10 for sure, and the only guys who I think are clearly better than him are Shaq and Big Ben. I really value a top defensive center, and he's just that. If this guy hadn't been so injury prone throughout his career, we'd be talking about him as maybe the most dominant defensive center of his era. I think he's one of the very best in the leauge when healthy.

Yeah, I'd say Camby is definatley top 5 in best centres in the league. It's a shame he's been injured as much as he has, because he could be a much better player than what he is now if he only had stayed healthy.

If he wasn't made of glass, he would've been up their with Shaq. He is such a defensive force and is a great rebounder.

If you're talking about this season, I'd say he's number 1. Shaq hasn't been himself this year, and Yao's been injured, and I'm pretty sure Camby's numbers have been better than Wallace's....

    Yao
    Wallace
    Miller

    Camby's been injured too.

I'd say it depends on how you look at it. As a defensive center, he's as good if not better than Ben for 1st place when 100%. Factor in his post up ability, range and overall offensive skills in setting up screens and other intangibles, he drops down a notch or two when he's 100%. But unfortunately, he's 100% about 30% of the time, so his value to teams goes way down. Personally, I'm a HUGE fan. He actually stayed at my father's hotel when he was a star in college (My uncle coached the team or had something to do with it in some way, and he swore even back then he was something special). Been following him ever since. But reality is reality. If he stays healthy, he's one of the best three centers in the league in my unbiased but humble opinion.

I wouldn't put him at #1, although Shaq has had a bad year for him, he still affects the game much more than Camby does.

Shaq shoots .58 FG%, and draws constant double teams, clogs the interior on defense and the centers he covers can't back him down.

Camby is a good help defender, but hits only at a 48 FG% clip and gets a lot from jumpers, so he doesn't draw the same double teams to get easier shots for teammates.

Although I think Camby has played well this year, especially early in the season his rebounding was impressive.

I think dominate center of his era is a pretty big stretch, but there is no question he would be rated a lot higher in the nba right now and all-time if it wasn't for his injuries.

Camby is a solid center. But to put him over Yao is down right INCORRECT. Matter fact, to put Ben over Yao is wrong. Shaq will always be number 1, but Yao is by himself right behind Shaq. PERIOD!

I don't see how you can't put him over Yao, Yao is just overrated (good but still overrated) Camby does more things better than Yao and Ben Wallace. The only real knock on Camby are the injurys. But if you put that aside I would definately take him before I would take Yao.

He is injured way too often. There are a pile of people I would take before him. We had him in toronto and he has always been know as too soft. Everyone rates his defense as so high, but his blocks come when he is providing help defense, he can't shut down a good center.

He overshadowed by Carmelo and thats why he's not a elite center yet. He needs to led a team by himself. I would've thought if you have K-Mart, Carmelo, and Camby thats easy success.

He's definitely been a top 5 center this season. He gives you everything you want from your big man. He defends, rebounds, and runs the floor well. He also can occasionally score inside and hit the jumper. He's not a dominate force on offense, which will prevent him from ever being a number one or two option for scoring.

Well he is a very good defensive center. When he played against the Pistons he outrebounded Ben Wallace. I think Camby had like 20 that game. When Camby is healthy I would put him as the 4th best center in the league. I would still put Big Ben above him because of what I've seen him do.

    1. Shaq
    2. Yao
    3. Big Ben
    4. Camby
    5. B.Miller
