Where is ray allen going to fit? With ronald murray's surprising play with being the fifth leading scorer in the league averageing 24 pts per game and rashard lewis number 8 averageing 23.2 pts per game. Are they going to take flip out of the shooting guard for Ray. Ray has proved himself over the years as a top superstar in the league but the way flip is playing how can u take him out for Ray Allen? Are u going to move flip to the one, i don't know but i know for sure that Ray allen will have to earn his spot back from flip. And where will Rays shots be- are rashard and flip going to sacrifice their games for Ray Allen?
Good questions but you don't have to worry about Allen's shot. He is the best pure shooter in the game period. They will find a spot for him, trust me.
It's a nice dilemma to have. Regardless of the situation, Flip, Ray and Shard will all get their shots, such is the nature of our offense. My guess is Shard will be a fixture at SF, and you'll see different backcourt combos of Ray, Flip and Bones, depending on the match-ups. I also feel Bones may be the first man off the bench a lot, with Flip and Ray starting in the backcourt. Flip's shown an ability to handle the ball that our coaching staff didn't know he had, so unless he has a dip in his level of play between now and when Ray comes back then you might see Barry playing 30 minutes off the bench. Flip may also be used as a scoring punch off the bench, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'll still see 30 minutes a game too. It's a nice situation to have really. Another line-up you'll see is Radman at C, Shard at PF, then Ray, Flip and Bones. This could be used against smaller line-ups for short bursts to provide instant offense. Even Evans could play centre in this line-up to make sure we still have some inside presence on the floor.
I agree SD. It would be nice if we had Shard at PF, I mean he has the height. Nice to see a line up like this bones/ray/flip/shard/radman
Dex actually sent me an article written by Chad Ford detailing the chances of trading Barry. I don't really want to as he's the glue of this team, but in the last year of his contract his value is sky high, and if we could get a guy like Al Harrington it may just have us in the playoffs (not that we couldn't make it anyway). According to Rick Sund there is a lot of interest surrounding Bones...
Alright, I'm kind of looking in from the outside and feeling out of place on this one. Is "Bones" Brent Barry? I think that Seattle should start wheeling and dealing. If Ray Allen comes back there will be no need for Flip. Putting Murray on the bench is not a good decision. He's proven that he has All-Star capabilities and I think that Seattle can take advantage of that by either trading him for an up-and-coming All-Star or trading Ray Allen for a post presence such as Rasheed Wallace. Either way I would like to see one of them go. Which lineup do you prefer? Lineup 1 - PF/C - Vladmir Randmonivic PF/C - Rasheed Wallace SF - Rashard Lewis SG - Flip Murray PG - Brent Barry Number of players out of position: 0 Lineup 2 - C - Vladmir Randmonivic PF - Rashard Lewis SF - Flip Murray SG - Ray Allen PG - Brent Barry Number of players out of position: 2 Again, this is just an outside perspective. I am sure that those of you who follow the Sonics actively or live in Seattle have a better grasp on what is happening with the team right now.
Rumours have it that Bones could go to Indiana (who need backcourt help) for Harrington, and Stromile Swift has also been bandied around. Considering Flip's shown an ability to handle the rock, I think you'll probably see a backcourt of Flip and Ray Allen. Coupled with the fact that we signed Daniels in the off-season and Ridnour is showing glimpses of great talent, and that Barry's in the last year of his deal, I think a trade could be very much in the works. Problem with trading Flip is he's still on a rookie contract, which makes it hard to trade him for equal value. At the same time it may be an opportunity to get Booth and James' contract off the books, but probably doubtful a team would take on either just to get Flip.
You don't trade a top 20 player in Ray Allen for a player who you don't know if he will turn up every night or not.Sheed has all the skills to be great but he never will be...His head is never on straight...He doesn't play down low enough. The Sonics do need a big man but trading for Sheed by trading away Ray Allen is not the answer.
Well if they trade Bones, it'd be a disappointment, but it'd probably best for both Sonics & (Brent) Bones. But I highly doubt we'd trade Rasheed Wallace for RAY ALLEN. yeaaa. If they do I'm goin to another state, j/p. lol. Ray Allen is a more efficient than Sheed...so it'd be bad for Sonics, and we'd possibly go :thumbsdow.
