For fishing games enthusiasts across the nation, the end of the summer fishing season means that the NFL is back for another season. Each year, sharp handicappers, following NFL betting lines, attempt to pick one or two teams from the previous season that were terrible but did enough in the offseason to change their fortunes. Today, for your sports betting pleasure, we will be looking at a couple of teams, who theoretically, could rebound in 2011 after a disastrous 2010. Carolina Panthers – Since playing for the Super Bowl in 2005, the Carolina Panthers have been one of the most difficult franchises to watch in the world of sports. Whether it is the fact they play in the toughest division in football in the NFC South, or the fact they haven’t found a good quarterback, Carolina Panthers fans have suffered a lot these last six years. However, this offseason, the Panthers drafted college football betting 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton to be their quarterback of the future. Newton, a player that has become synonymous with controversy, was able to turn an abysmal Auburn Tigers football program into the National Champion a season ago. Now, while we aren’t saying that Newton will guide the Panthers to a Super Bowl in his rookie season, what we are saying is that under his guidance, the NFC South basement dwellers should be able to win a few games. According to our colleagues at ProFootballTalk.com Newton has received the high praises of former Auburn Tiger and Oakland Raiders great Bo Jackson. Jackson feels that under Newton’s watch, the Panthers won’t have the proverbial smackdown laid against them, but rather be the ones giving the smackdown. Aside from Newton, the return of wide receiver Steve Smith and running back DeAngelo Williams should help the Panthers offense dramatically. On the defensive side of things, the Panthers kept several key players with the belief that last season’s two and 14 record, was just an anomaly. Cincinnati Bengals – The 2011 Cincinnati Bengals are considered to be not only one of the worst teams in the NFL this year, but one of the worst in the last 20 years of Bengals history. With the standards lower then ever in Cincinnati, the Bengals and their fans, may be the only ones betting on the team’s success this season. Comparable to the Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati hasn’t had much to cheer about over the last six years. Last season’s veteran lineup, can be considered one of the biggest busts in the last decade. Yet, with former TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Andy Dalton at the helm, the Bengals youth will shine in 2011. Cincinnati is the city of second chances, as many of the players both returning and new are in need of a fresh start. With the addition of former New England Patriot Brandon Tate, Andy Dalton may have that veteran wide receiver that would have otherwise been missing this season.
