Back in 2006, before the 06/07 season, I posted a thread in what was then JBB titled the same as this one. You can check it out here if you're interested in seeing what people thought: http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87069&page=2

Out of the original list, posted 2 years ago:

    Allen Iverson, Philadelphia
    Kevin Garnett, Minnesota
    Jason Kidd, New Jersey
    Steve Nash, Phoenix
    Tracy McGrady, Houston
    Paul Pierce, Boston
    Vince Carter, New Jersey
    Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas

Two players now have rings (Pierce and Garnett).

Three don't seem have a realistic chance of winning the championship in the next few years unless a major move occurs. (Carter, Kidd, Nowitzki)

The remaining three (Nash, Iverson and McGrady) all have a shot at the title this year, albeit not a very good one with Phoenix, Detroit and Houston respectively.

A few more names that could possibly be added to the list: Baron Davis, Shawn Marion, Elton Brand, Antawn Jamison. Remember, the only players who can qualify have to be either in their prime or past it, and currently do not have a ring.

If Houston can stay healthy and get rid of their chemistry issues, TMac would have a legit shot at winning a title.

Dirk, Nash and T-Mac def has a chance to win a ring before they retire. Especially Dirk, he still has a lot of time left.

Carter will never win a ring unless he is traded to a contender or signs with one for little money... not seeing either of that happening.

Kidd is getting old... unless he pulls a Payton, I think he might retire ringless.

AI ... I have no idea, could go either way.

Please let's not put Shawn Marion or Jamison in the topic as the guys listed above. They are a tier below.

On the other hand, we should talk about Yao. I don't think T-Mac and Yao will win a ring together. I think they will win a ring only if they get separated.
