I feel that its gotta be Rasheed. I mean Ben is a great player, but they did not win a championship until Rasheed got there. He was the final piece of the championshi puzzle. Plus, the Lakers had nobody who could match up with him defensively.

    Rasheed definatly on offense
    Ben on Defense.

Overall, I'd have to say Ben Wallace is more important to his team. Defense is what the Pistons are all about and he anchors the defense. Changes shots, blocks ballside and weakside shots. Is a presence on the defensive end.

Not taht Rasheed isn't but not as much as Ben. Rasheed gives a good option on offense to score, but he's not as imporant as Big Ben.

Big Ben!! Sheed might have been the final piece, but that doesn't mean he
    was the most important piece.

In fact, I wonder if Rip wasn't the most important piece. I agree that defense
does win it, but defense must come with offense. Rip made the Lakers play D
and created mismatches that allowed the Pistons to score enough to win.
They were not going to beat the Lakers 55 to 54.

As much as I like Sheed, Ben was the better player. He stepped his game up. You heard the announcers didn't you? Laughing and praising him every night because he was getting points and rebounds usually ending up with a double-double? Look at his finals stats: 10.8 ppg, 13.6 rpg, 1.4 apg. Sheed had 13.0 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.4 apg.
The only person who rivals stats like those? Shaquille O'Neal. And thats saying something. They were in the playoffs before Sheed came (as a high seed) and when he came, he gave the team exactly what they needed. A good scoring threat. But ben still held down the defensive end better than anyone else in the league could (Besides maybe Theo Ratliff).

Ben Wallace is the better player.

Big Ben is more important because yah sheed was the missing piece to a title and he doesnt come up BIG every game like Ben.

Gerald Wallace, hands down..oh wait he didn't play for the Pistons..

Big Ben of course is more important then rasheed. He probably should have been defensive player of the year, but whatever. He's just crazy on the defensive end and kind of ugly on the offensive end but he gets results. Rasheed is great, but he's no ben.

I think Ben with all the rebounds he gets, makes the pistons better on D and gives em a lot of second chance points.

I don't think you can say one or the other is more important. If you were to take one of them off, the Pistons wouldn't have won the the title.
