"White nationalism is a type of nationalism or pan-nationalism which espouses the belief that white people are a race and seeks to develop and maintain a white national identity. Its proponents identify with and are attached to the concept of a white nation. White nationalists say they seek to ensure the survival of the white race, and the cultures of historically white states. They hold that white people should maintain their majority in majority-white countries, maintain their political and economic dominance, and that their cultures should be foremost. Many white nationalists believe that miscegenation, multiculturalism, immigration of nonwhites and low birth rates among whites are threatening the white race, and some argue that it amounts to white genocide." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_nationalism
I just want people to own up that there is bigotry and hatred from all races, and it will not stop until everyone starts thinking of themselves as people and not colors. There shouldn't be any kind of racial pride. I think it's fine to be proud of your heritage, but my heritage involves countries. It doesn't need to involve the color of my skin. Just as any black person can be proud of being British or any white person can be proud of being African. I just don't think this will stop until we stop looking at people as colors. Period. All of them. Across the board. If all the best students are Asian, then let in all the Asians who apply. Period.
Hmm. I was with you up until that last sentence where you used a racial type as filter instead of using nationality, and then applied a somewhat stereotypical opinion about them (they're all the best students) in a logically indefensible way to say that because most are good students, colleges should let in ALL of them who apply. But, yeah, your major point is spot on, IMO.
I was just giving an example. It's a legitimate problem where people are being denied from schools like Harvard because of their race, despite having the better grades. https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-...mative-action-is-on-trial-in-the-harvard-case
I'm aware of that issue and agree it's an issue that still needs to be addressed, but it kind of points out a problem with your major point. If we ask our colleges and businesses to consider race in making student admission and employee hiring and advancement decisions, how do we go about asking people not to consider race in their personal actions?
No, that's not my point at all. I don't want them to consider race. They should be letting in the best students period. Race should not be considered at all.
I dont really disagree with anything you said but its a bit to general and overlooks some of the issues. True there is hate among all people, but racism is a power construct and hate or prejudice is most harmful when used by the race that would be considered in power of a particular country or institution. I lived in Tokyo for a few years in my early 20's and this point was really driven home to me then. Another thing to consider is that most black people don't know where they came from, there is no records in relation to their slave ancestry. DNA is helping that a lot but its still pretty sad when you consider that you can be proud of being Irish or Italian or British and all they have is African or their current country of residence. As far as school and work diversity, there is a benefit to having multicultural population. If all the best are one race then as a whole the community suffers, the cultures that are not involved suffer from not being involved and the cultures that are involved suffer from not having diversity around them to learn and grow from. When the admin or hiring managers are all one race themselves then they will have a natural bias towards people who are more like them and other deserving people will be left out for no fault of their own other than not being from similar background. Even the best intending admin or hiring managers will still have latent bias its a human condition. Also on large scale hiring or admissions there often is no "best person" there is a pool of really qualified people to choose from.
Plenty. The word racism was never used. It's a complete whitewash of what white nationalism really is.I It's utter bullshit.
Oh, my mistake. That is a horse of a different color (no horse racial stereotyping intended). I assume you're referring to the law suit against Harvard? https://www.forbes.com/sites/richar...-admissions-harvard-and-chicago/#5118c981f098 In theory, I get that students with the best grades should get the chance to go to the best universities. Unfortunately, there are still major road blocks to students who have disadvantaged backgrounds that are often associated with race that can result in equally bright kids not having a chance to earn good grades. I think that the universities got too carried away with affirmative action, but I'm not ready to say that we don't still need it to some degree.
I imagine it's attempting to provide an objective definition free of value judgments. Because the term "racism" itself is subjective, using it in a definition thereby renders that definition subjective as well.
A spade is a spade. Just like there's no such thing as Alt right either. We need to stop having so many euphemisms for racist.
If you reread what I wrote, you will notice that I did not use the word racism because I was prepared for a response like yours. I'm talking about bigotry and hatred. There are bigots who hate people based on race or religion and those people can come in all shapes and sizes and colors. Until we acknowledge that there are black people who hate white people, and Mexicans who hate blacks etc etc etc. Prejudice is not just exclusive to white people. I don't care if you call it racism or bigotry or just plain old hatred, but it exists, and until we admit that it exists, we won't get anywhere.
Utter bullshit. You try saying this after you've been taught to hate everything about yourself. We can't even wear our natural hair without MFs calling it kinky, unkempt, or unprofessional. Being proud of who you are is the natural response to oppression for being who you are. White pride means a completely different thing than black pride.
Your view (and their view) is based on ignorance of simple biological facts. There is only one race of human beings alive on this Earth. That is a biological fact. Unchallenged and unchangeable. "White Nationalists" have much fear and hatred in their hearts, based on the illusion of race. Until you both stop allowing a bunch of billionaire globalists to manipulate your emotions, nothing will change. You are all willing pawns in a rich man's game.
Racism went hand in hand with colonialism. White people need to own their shit. Fix the problem y'all created.
