While Jose Abreu remains in a walking boot to protect his ankle tendinitis, the Chicago White Sox are confident he could be ready to return to action the moment he is eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list. "He's here today, receiving treatment," general manager Rick Hahn said Thursday. "He remains in the boot and will stay in the boot through the weekend. We'll re-evaluate next week. So far he's progressing, and we'll continue to be optimistic about him being ready about the time the 15 days are up." Abreu leads baseball with 15 home runs despite the fact that he hasn't played since Saturday. He was put on the disabled list Sunday, making him eligible to return for the opener of a three-game series at Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
