QBs: Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady RBs: Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew WRs: Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss TEs: Dallas Clark, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates
Statistically Rivers had the best season in the NFL, adjusted for schedule and teammates. He had a rough game against New York but Brees also never faced that kind of defense in the post-season (there was also that fluke interception + Kaeding misses). So take your pick between Manning/Rivers/Brees. Toss up at this point. Tom Brady is the overrated Kobe of the NFL, not super impressive playoff numbers and out of his prime. He was leading the discussion a couple of years ago. In his prime (50 TDs era) he's been outplayed by Manning in the playoffs, which is funny. Drew Brees has a much better running game than Rivers or Manning, and he fumbles a lot. So the top player is a close call.
I'm fine with that but I think Gates is better than Clark, Larry had kind of a rough year (I'll double check the figures later). Rivers is too underrated.
Yeah I think Gates is better too but Clark had a monster year and Gates had a down year. I wanted to put Rivers there instead of Brady, I don't really know why I didn't.
If I had to make an analogy, Clark is more "pace inflated". Gates has a higher DVOA, AV. Yeah generally yards per pass is what leads to the highest efficiency. Receptions are also cool and have value but Gates maximizes his production per attempt.
If were going to argue over best CB, I'll add Charles Woodson in that list. Peyton is like, the Kobe of the NBA, imo. Hes really good, but theres something about him that I dunno about. Theres a LOT of young talent in this league. Unlike in any other drafts, youbng talent is huge in the NFL. Later rounds can bring up some very good talent. Best players, ever! QB: Jamarcus Russel CB: Ahmad Carrol ...xD
The NBA has the most dominant individuals in sports, I don't think any QB compares to a true NBA superstar. They all need their little receivers to look good or they'll have a QB rating of 89 or something. Well Kobe never had a true clear cut MVP season. There are bigger expectations for Peyton, which I have not seen fulfilled. He's a better Favre but he's flawed obviously.
