Did Aldridge say he wouldn't come back to the same starting 5 before the Batum trade?

Did Neil say we won't be trying to keep all our starters at estimated near max market prices and will aim for another direction first?

Wes injury decided that, although the decision might've been made before considering Olshey didn't try to re-sign anyone outside of LA

Neil didn't decline a max extension.

We have had many unfortunate moments as Blazer fans. The Wes injury was one of the biggest.

Should have traded his ass right after he declined the max offer last summer.

I don't know, it might be a blessing in disguise in the long run. While extremely likable, the group probably wasn't a championship contender.

There is no single person or event that caused this. It's possible Olshey expected a warmer reception from the FA market. The contingencies for contingencies probably didn't factor in whiffing on ALL impact players we were targeting. No Monroe, no Danny Green, no Milsap, no anything but bench players . . . so far.

Monroe was the only miss. Extremely unlikely they had serious interest in the other two.

Horseshit, If that's the case then I would bet that that Blazers team wasn't as tight as everyone thought.

False. The Mavs signed Wes, we could have too if we CHOOSE to.

Or the more likely scenario; not as good.

Of course it was Neil...What GM would lock in those players at those salaries only to be an above average team? Hell, they would probably be worse, as there would be no money left for the bench. Good move by Neil. Excited to see what comes of a young group of talent with a little fire in the belly.

I wish more people would look at it like this, instead of crying about how Olshey broke up a team full of great guys and close friends.

Thats a big problem with the CBA; it basically doesn't allow max players to sign extensions. They should allow extensions for a 4th year; then I bet Aldridge would've signed last summer. If he doesn't we trade him. I bet they change that in the 2017 lockout.

Right now teams really have no choice but to prey when a max player goes to free agency he stays with them. Teams don't want to panick and trade away allstars as the Thunder did with Harden. But the Lakers had the same problem with Dwight as we are having; the Cavs with Love, the Clippers with DeAndre, and Memphis with Marc Gasol. Lakers lost; Cavs won; Memphis appears good; what happens to us and the Clips? Its just a gamble.

Yeah, but I honestly have felt for two years now that he was gone. I don't think this was a spur of the moment decision or that he changed his mind. I think he was going to leave and Neil should have traded his ass.
