I wanted to take a closer look at these two teams and how we have performed against them. Spurs: 2-2 in 2013/2014 (no Aldridge in the two losses) 2-1 in 2012/2013 Dame: 25 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 7-16 shooting and 3-8 from three 21 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 6-16 shooting and 1-5 from three 31 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 13-21 shooting and 1-3 from three 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 9-22 shooting and 2-7 from three Totals: 25 ppg, 5.25 rebounds, 6.25 assists, 46.6% shooting & 30% from three. LA: 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 11-17 shooting 26 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 11-22 shooting Totals: 25 ppg, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 56% shooting Mavs: 1-2 in 2013/2014 1-3 in 2012/2013 Dame: 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3-10 shooting and 1-6 from three 14 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists, 3-8 shooting and 2-6 from three 32 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, 9-18 shooting and 5-9 from three Totals: 18.6 ppg, 3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 41.6% shooting & 38% from three. Didn't technically LA play once and get hurt in the 3rd quarter? Regardless... I think I'd want the Mavs, only because of HCA. Though, we do match up great against the Spurs. So to me, it's a win win. Bring it on!
This team can win on the road. I think if you look at the numbers, LA plays well against either team but Dame really struggles against Dallas. At this point I would rather play the Spurs because I really hate facing Dirk. I want nothing to do with that team. They're a pain in the ass, they have really good perimeter players and I'm tired of watching Mo get burned.
I will gladly play the mavs and NOT the spurs thankyou! Sent from my baller ass iPhone 5S...... FAMS!
They would be drained emotionally and physically though. Especially with the old legs on that team. SA would be drained but they're too level headed mentally to be bothered.
I look at it that Dallas has pushed them to seven, and we're a better offensive team than Dallas. I see Dallas as having exposed San Antonio, and now we can capitalize.
To beat SA I feel our bench would have to play decently on a consistent basis. To beat Dallas they just need to hold leads. I still think we beat both but give me the easier route every time.
The thing is, outside of that one blowout that we had on their floor, we've played like complete shit against that team.
Regular season means nothing at this point. Lillard has elevated his game for the playoffs and LA in his hometown is lethal.
I disagree that regular season means nothing. The three prior series that we had before this one with the rockets were against teams that we had not done very well against. Obviously this is a different team, but we have to be mindful of how we matchup against an opponent. Dame has played significantly better against San Antonio. He has not done well against Dallas over the past two seasons.
Dirk is 4-0 in Game 7s. I'll take either team. LaMarcus plays well against Spurs. Dame won't struggle against Mavs. He's on a higher level right now. We went on huge runs against Dallas in the reg season. We led by 38 I'm one game and in another, we came back from a 30 point deficit to lead by 7. I prefer Dallas.
Remember when we played the Spurs in the WCF (I know it was a long time ago) and the centers just outquicked Sabonis? That is how we can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series, particularly if they already have tired legs.
Thought this through this morning. I want HCA- so Dallas it is. Carlisle is no slouch, btw. Dude has coached circles around Pop for much of this series. But after this emotional high we will be getting off of, I don't want us to go into SA and get plastered in the first two games.
See I look at this much different. Whomever is coming out with a win on the sas vs dal series will be emotionally high. Ours may start to fade with the extra time off. We may come out flat in the first game and I would much rather it be on the road. Losing game 1 on the road is much better than losing game one at home.
Agree, I think the road team with confidence can take one. The pressure is on the spurs. Pop is a hell of a coach but the Spurs aren't invincible.
I don't see how anyone thinking logical can "want" the spurs. How many times have they been in this spot before? I believe no spur averaged over 30mpg during the regular season. They're not tired. The Spurs vs Mavs series is a series that the teams know each other extremely well. It's a huge rivalry. How many times has dirk and Duncan played each other over the past... what.. 15+years?(I'm not looking up the actual number of years/games) Not to mention the Spurs took the Heat to the brink last year and if not for ray allen hitting a 3 to save bronbron the Spurs win the championship. If not for Duncan missing a wide open layup they win the championship again.!... Cannot want the spurs logically. Then looking at the matchup. Parker will give lillard fits. Ginoblli also... And you can't put wes/Batum on parker because who will Lillard guard? Kawaii? Riiight.. mouse in the house right there............. Dallas will double Aldridge they showed in the regular season. And Calderon is far from the offensive player parker is. so Lillard while he got burnt by him in the regular season.. Still not the pain in the ass Parker would be... Mavs please. I would give anything if the Blazers can avoid the Spurs. I'm sure any team in the NBA behind closed doors believes the same thing...
