Let's do a little run through of all the people that Donovan screwed over during this mess. 1. Florida Gators - Told the Gators he would stay with the team and was offered a very large contract extension from the school. Donovan hesitated to sign the extension and out of nowhere, leaves the school and is hired as the Orlando Magic assistant. This left the Gators with no coach, upset recruits, and many upset fans. Moving along... 2. Orlando Magic - The Magic finally have a winning coach! A press conference is held where Donovan sucks up to the team, owners, and general manager. He talks about how excited he is and tons of articles are produced about how this is going to help get an arena built, help improve the team, and help get more fans. As a matter of fact, nearly 250 season ticket plans were sold after Donovan accepted the job. But what's this? Donovan is a *****? Oh, he's not "ready for new challenges" as he said he was in his press conference. He wants to go back to Florida. Burnt bridge #2. You think that's all? Ha. That's where you're wrong. 3. Anthony Grant - Anthony Grant is the head coach at Virgina Commonwealth University. He was the leading candidate to get the position at Florida and he informed his staff and recruits that he may be leaving. He met with Jeremy Foley but half way through the meeting, Foley had to leave because of an emergency. What was this emergency? Donovan wanted back. That completely screws Grant out of the coaching job at Florida and makes VCU question his loyalty. Feel free to add to the list.
I think you're forgetting the most important people he's screwed over. The Orlando Magic players and fans who were excited about him.

But whatever. The point is, Billy Donovan is a douche.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The point is, Billy Donovan is a douche.</div> I think that best sums up everything
I think the fans got the biggest screw job of all. When it was announced he signed, over 200 fans got season tickets with more likely on the way. Now he may not even be there. I'd be pissed if I were those fans who used their money on 'em.
why would any blue chipper want to play for this guy? Yea he's a good coach, but would you want to play for a guy that promises you a starting role in the team and then instantly changes his mind?
Schmitz wrote a blog exactly like my post. Jeez, I should just work for the Sentinel. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Billy Donovan owes so many people explanations and apologies that he just ought to rent TV time. By the time he gets done, you'll think it's a telethon. His list of I'm sorries. . .. To the Magic, obviously: The damage he did with his about-face was incalcuable. And it goes further than what his starpower presence mean to the arena-funding issue, ability to keep free agents or attract them and season-ticket sales. Bottom line: It's hard to put a price on the damage to the Magic's image. To the Gators: Actually, UF will receive him with warm hugs and cold mugs. But if they peer through their orange-and-blue colored glasses, Billy also broke hearts of fans, disrupted the lives of assistant coaches and their families and embarrassed the university with his flip-flop, if only momentarily. He left with two years on his contract. He lied to the media and, thus the fans, when he said he was still focusing on being the Gators coach and was merely waiting on Florida to approve his contract extension. He made recruits doubt his credibility. To Anthony Grant: A lot of lives were affected after Donovan took the Magic job, and the chain reaction reached Virginia. Grant, the coach of Virginia Commonwealth, was seen as Donovan's successor, and he had to prepare his team, coaches and school for his departure. But he was left at the gate when Billy wanted back, and probably thought he was fortunate to keep his job. To Florida AD Jeremy Foley: Foley is one of Billy's best friends, but can you imagine Foley's embarrassment when he flew to Virginia to pick up Grant and had to turn around because he heard Billy was having second thoughts?</div> Source
Whats the difference between Billy Donovan and a prostitute? You pay the prostitute to screw and make you cum. where as you pay Billy to come and he screws you....
looks like Sacramento might get screwed too if Stan Van Gundy comes to Orlando to coach, I read somwhere that he verbally agreed to coach them saturday but if he is offered the Orlando job he would consider it
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> If Van Gundy does opt for Sacramento, the Magic would have to move fast in search of other candidates, with the biggest names remaining available being former Pacers coach Rick Carlisle, former Cavs coach Paul Silas and former Grizzlies coach Mike Fratello. Orlando would have to wait until after the NBA Finals to talk to Spurs assistant P.J. Carlesimo; that doesn't bode well for Carlesimo, given the Magic's urgency to get something done. From a community relations standpoint, former fan favorite Brian Shaw could be a welcome draw. </div> Source: CBS Sportsline More coaches effected by Donovan's cold feet.

We just got screwed twice by the way because Stan Van Gundy, who wanted to come here before the Donovan fiasco, has chosen Sacramento over us. Now that we have officially voided Donovan's contract, he better do some serious apologizing. Also, I wonder how many Gator fans who are also Magic fans will dislike Donovan now. I mean, he embarrassed us, made us lose Van Gundy and if we lose our big name free agent because of all this, those would be some very unhappy fans imo.

Seriously before this week how many people knew of Anthony Grant? Next year when their are coaching vacancies Anthony Grant's name will be towards the top. He likely won't get his dream job at UF, but he could potentially get a job at a BCS conference school pretty soon. <div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">LMAO, that's great. I will still support him and gator basketball, but I have lost some respect for him.

I don't see how any Gator/Magic fan can respect Donovan at all. He screwed the Magic over twice. They lost him and Stan Van Gundy.

I have been hyping him the entire college basketball season and I had him beating Duke and Pitt(disappointed that they couldn't win in OT). I didn't think many people had heard of him though. <div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I don't see how any Gator/Magic fan can respect Donovan at all. I wish it never came down to that and he just didn't sign the deal in the first place, but I'd much rather have a happy Donovan in Gainesville then an unhappy Donovan in Orlando. I have lost a lot of respect for him, but I am still gonna cheer for him and the Gators basketball team.
He should have thought of the decision BEFORE signing. That hurts this organization again. How many times has this organization been ****** over. Plenty. At least we got SVG.
