Probably late and not worth a thread BUT remember when he had insightful articles about Portland? I alWays enjoyed them. He got big time and now he semi half ass tries to give out blazer articles, it's just not worth it anymore. Go home Ben.... We don't need you're have ass opinion anymore.
Honestly I never really followed him to begin with. I didn't find his analysis very useful or accurate so I really never followed. hoop fam
I wouldn't say I'm tired of him--but similar to Abbott, I don't put much credence into his reporting/analysis any more. But he seems to try hard. I don't like reading Dave or Abbott at all.
He has no inside info. He's simply a fan with an opinion who developed a website to share his opinion. For some reason, the local radio stations and CSN now think he's a "source" and worth interviewing etc. But props to him for turning his fandom into a solid career. I'd be curious to know how much money he makes.
BG was trained in writing at Johns Hopkins, he's not just a booger eater living in his mom's basement.
Yea he's definitely got a degree in sensationalism. Don't mind him on Talkin Ball and TV, but he's like the modern day Canzano with his posts on Blazers Edge. Guess that's just the new age of journalism.
I thought John Hopkins was famous for their *medical* school? Then again, many of the people who cover the Blazers are wannabe proctologists.
Here's a little trivia for you: As some of you know, I am a writer. Back in 2001 or 2002, OregonLive asked me if I would like to launch a blog for them about the Blazers. Remember, this was 2002 - so I asked "what's a blog?" "It's a Web-Log, or blog" they explained. (Now, ironically, I blog for a living.) So anyway, they hired me and I launched the OregonLive Blazer Blog. I was pretty rough on the team because I mostly didn't like the cast of characters - Ruben Patterson, Sheed, Bonzi, etc. They also were paying hardly anything, so after the playoffs that year, I let the gig go - lot of work, low pay, and outside my wheelhouse of writing about small business. But I still kinda regret it actually.
Here are a couple of hints. The person who started BlazersEdge went by the ghost writing name of Lance Uppercut and is now employed by the Trail Blazers.
Ben isn't that bad. It's great to see someone go from being a blogger and turn it into a bigger and better gig. Also Ben has covered almost all of the Meet and Greets and has said some nice things about S2 on Blazer's Edge. Oh, one more thing, Ben has gotten story ideas and links to stories about the Blazers from here and when he does he always says he got them from S2.
