Now that big name free agents like Payton, Kidd, Malone, Zo, O'Neal are gone, who should S.A. try to get now? personally i think they need a big man. Olowokandi and Brad Miller look like good fits for S.A. what do u guy think?
Ya know about a week or so after the Spurs won the championship I was going to make a topic on the possibility of the Spurs not getting the big free agents people thought they would get. I decided not to, but it sure does look that way. The Clips want to keep Brand, Kandi wants to go to Denver, Brad Miller is probably going to stay in Indiana since Jermaine is staying. They will probably have to wait until next year to get the big name they want.
Might as well sign a player like rasho..then save up for next year and get KG...but doing that will likely mean no repeat....
Rasho seems like a good fit with the Spurs to me as well, I'm not sold on his talent, but he should be able to contribute consistently next to a stalwart like Duncan. Personally I think that Corey Magette would be a great fit. It would give them the big '2' guard that all GM's covet and the Spurs would then have one of the more athletic backcourts in the league. The Clippers say they will match any offer for Maggette, but I wouldn't be surprised if they balked. However, its possible Maggette would be scared to sign the Spurs' offer sheet for fear that the Clips would match it and he'd be stuck in L.A. for the duration of the deal. Also, I like the fact that his name rhymes with spaghetti. The Spurs would also be helped by adding a consistent long-range threat like Jon Barry or Eric Piatkowski. Offense production off the bench will be absolutely key for the Spurs when they match-up with offensive juggernauts like Dallas, Sacramento, L.A. Lakers and even Houston (if Eddie Griffin and Yao Ming keep getting better). Screw next year. They were the best team in the league this year and if they add a little bit more talent they will have a chance to win it all again. If the short history of free-agency in the luxury tax era has shown us anything its that hanging on to cap space doesn't do anyone any good. Its why Utah will probably overpay for Andre Miller, its why the Pistons didn't hesitate to give Chauncey Billups a slightly above market deal last summer and its why S.A. should get the most out of its cap space- Or else be ready to warm up that golf swing and watch teams that improved themselves (L.A. Lakers, New Jersey) celebrate next june
is garnett a free agent next year? i dont think he will pass up s.a. if he has the chance to go there with duncan
^yea, garnett will be a FA. i'd REALLY love to see him play with TD. i dont care if i hafta wait a year. they could try and sign Rasho for a year.. and then get Garnett next season
Rocko those were amazing points, very realistic and true. Maggette would be great for SA, if only Brand would go there that would be great.

looks like Malik Rose might have to start, thats not a bad thing though, i just wish they could have gotten a solid big man...now i guess brand is out of reach, same with olowakandi...
