We are entering the very end of the season. This is where it gets nuts. Some may hate the Thunder and Westbrook, but we might have to root for them to win, if it helps us get a more favorable matchup for example. There are a few of you guys who are fantastic at breaking the scenarios down that last few nights of the season. It's all a giant blur in my head. On this note, I believe it worked out perfect for us last season.....or so i thought. Of all the matchups, I wanted us to get the Pels. Didn't work out as planned. So you guys have to tell me who to root for. If a mod wants to just throw this in the around the NBA thread feel free. Just thought it would be cool to have one spot we can check each night. #GoLakers
Tonight, only one game relevant to us Root for the Hornets, of course, because the Jazz are breathing down our necks for the 4 seed.
This may seem like a cop out but even with such few games remaining it's impossible to know what to root for. I just want to state my opinion for the record again that I think you play for the best seed possible and not to try and matchup with a specific team. Realistically the Blazers can still finish anywhere from 3-6. If they won out or lost out they could be in play for other seedings but that is unlikely. So basically I look at it like we want the Thunder, Spurs, Rockets, Clippers, and Jazz to all lose. Depending on where we finish also would determine if we want GS or Denver to be #1 too. If the other 5 teams 3-8 continue to lose though we would get HCA which is the most important thing in my mind, despite what happened last year.
Bring on the toughest match up! You want to be the best you have to play the best. With Nurk hurt and CJ gimpy there are opportunities for players. We have roster decisions to make in the off season. We ain't winning a championship this year. Doesn't really matter who we play in the first round. Might as well bring on the hardest match up.
Tomorrow will be very interesting; all four games impact the West playoff race Thunder and Spurs both likely win. Houston should win at Sacramento, but you definitely want to root for the Kings. And I'd say root for the Warriors to beat the Nuggets.
Screw that. I want to watch us play in May. I don't care if we don't win the title-- but I do care if we get swept in 4 games and I'm done with bball for 6 months. This is my release from the crap that goes on in reality. The longer we play, the better for me, even if the end is inevitable heartache.
Man, I think I want us to play the Clips. They won't get the calls that some of these other teams will get.
Several good games Wednesday as well. Again I say root for the Nuggets to lose. Both Nuggs and Spurs are on the 2nd-half of a back-to-back, but the Spurs have a much easier prior night opponent. Utah will crush the Suns, but we can always hope. And I'd say we want to root for the Clippers to beat the Rockets. @ThePosterFormerlyKnownAsTheHCP If you want the Clippers in the playoffs, I think your best bet is for the Blazers to get the 3 seed and the Clipps to stay in 6th. This will be a big game for that.
My hopes for the remainder of the season, At the very least, play a competitive first-round series win at LEAST 2-3 games, and no more injuries.
I'm certainly not rooting for anyone to get hurt so please no one take this the wrong way but other than a serious injury to Dame and maybe Collins and Harkless would any other injury really be that bad? Once again, I am very strongly stating that I'm not hoping for this to happen but lets say one of Aminu, Curry, Hood, or Kanter gets hurt. It might actually make it easier to retain them next year or make the decision to let them go easier. Weren't you hoping for Simons and Trent to get more run when the Nurk injury happened?
Yes, but for about 24 hours after the Nurk injury, I was in mope mode, to be honest with myself... I still really think they should've given Simons or Trent run (I've thought that all year), it's not like ET has been hot or anything, but especially Simons actually kind of looks like a PG, why not see if the dude could run an offense. He's not ready? Well, of course, he isn't, but he'd get a whole lot of experience, and maybe he'd have figured it out by now if he got the chance. Only like 2-3 guys a year come into the NBA "ready" to go, most of them have to figure it out as they go. In terms of the future of the team yeah there are only a few guys that a serious injury would really hurt the franchise. In terms of my emotional state though... Injuries could really affect trade values and stuff too. If the idea is to try to be a player in getting rid of expiring or go after AD or Blake we'll need them healthy.
Well I believe we will end up 3-5 for the playoffs. But with CJ question mark even be ready for the playoffs and Nurk out I think any opponent will be difficult. But maybe the Clippers would be my choice.
I don't know man, if ET was out for next year does his trade value get worse? Is that even possible, lol? That's why I included Harkless and Collins with Dame because they would take a hit to their trade value if injured but I don't know if it really matters for anyone else.
