I see a lot of people defending the email sent by the Blazers, which is to be expected. However I see people defending it on the grounds that KP was behind it, which I completely disagree with. I have a hard time believing KP was behind it and think he was probably against it. My opinion is the email was orchestrated by Paul Allen. It takes an abundance of ego and power-tripping to send an email like the one the Blazers sent and my experience tells me Paul Allen is the man.

To the people defending this email. Would you still defend it if you knew KP was against it? His body language in the press briefing sure looked like he was completely against it.

I've heard Larry Miller on the subject but haven't seen or heard anything from KP yet. Have I missed it or has he simply kept quiet on the issue?

It seems pretty clear to me that it was not KP. It's a business matter and KP was especially tight-lipped about it in the clip I saw.

Whether it was Larry Miller or Paul Allen dictating to Larry Miller I couldn't guess.

Since I didn't see Bob Whitsetts name, or Steve Pattersons name, or John Nashs name on your poll I voted for Paul Allen. The tone of the whole thing reminded me so much of what communication from the team sounded like during the days those men ran the franchise.

KP really seemed to distance himself from the Email. Dave at BlazersEdge a good give and take with KP. I think Miller wrote and approved because it seem just like something NIKE would do. And NIKE is number 1.

Seemed like Larry Miller who put it together, esp. given the language he used when he spoke about the email.

I was somewhat shocked that he didn't have an attorney write the email for him.

Some have said that attorneys DID write it. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time wondering if attorneys REALLY meant "tortuous" rather than "tortious" and "perspective" rather than "prospective". We'll probably never know for sure, but either way the word choice was poor in both cases.

I was thinking the same thing. I cringed a little when I read the word 'tortuously'.

I can't imagine this was KP. He is the one who has to talk to all these other teams and get their cooperation on deals. I smell a Vulcan...

Tom Penn's a former lawyer who study the salary cap extensively. I could see this as being one of his deals.
