"Cameron Wake has pressured quarterbacks in Canada and America, but can this Dolphins linebacker convert from a project to a productive NFL starter this season? Charlie Anderson has proven to be a patient man, and Quentin Moses is a resilient one — but are either of these converted former college defensive ends starter material as 3-4 linebacker? In his first two seasons, Erik Walden established himself as a solid special teams contributor, but can he do more on an every-down basis? All of the returning outside linebackers have questions surrounding their careers and abilities. The Dolphins hope to discover some favorable answers because they will be counting on the four veterans to cushion the departure of Joey Porter and Jason Taylor. In an effort to get younger and become more athletic at that position, the Dolphins cut Porter, who has since signed with Arizona, and shunned Taylor as a free agent, sending him into the arms of the Jets. But there is no guarantee the team will be more effective at pressuring quarterbacks unless Wake, Anderson, Moses or Walden can step up and become a good compliment for rookie Koa Misi, the team's second-round pick, who spent all offseason working as the starting strong side linebacker. "It's tough to lose two Pro Bowl guys, two Hall of Fame caliber guys like them," Anderson said, referring to Porter and Taylor, who combined for 83 tackles and 16 of the Dolphins' 44 sacks last season "It's just another challenge in my career. I'm always up for challenges, and that's what this year is about. It's a challenge for me to not just make the team, but become a starter." Anderson spent most of the offseason as the first-team weakside linebacker in the base defense. He'll likely begin training camp in pole position. This would be the second time Anderson began a camp in a favorable position. In 2008 he initially replaced Taylor, who was traded to Washington on the eve of training camp's start, but lost the starting job to Matt Roth, a converted defensive end, after the second week." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...n-wake-dolphins-0706-20100705,0,6024505.story
