My vote has to go with either Andrei Kirilenko or Gerald Wallace.

I think Ben Wallace is slowing down and won't do as good with Chicago. Ron Artest always has his problems. Bruce Bowen always gets passed up but deserves at least an All-Defensive First Team vote.

Gerald Wallace or AK47. If either of them stay healthy.

I wouldn't count Big Ben out. The bulls are more defensive orientated than the Pistons were with Flip. The only reason I can't seen Big Ben taking it is because he is starting to slow down with age or someone else just simply plays better defense than him.

I don't think AK47 can win it, simply because he is so injury prone. Look at his body, he is a stick, he needs to bulk up. Also Camby has the same problem as AK47. G-Force has the same problem as well, but not as notorious as the two just mentioned.

Hassell can't win it because he gets no love, even though he is a legitamate shut down defender.

My outside bet is Dwight Howard, he already owns the boards and in a conference deprived of quality big men, I can see him being a defensive force.

But for me the leading candidate is Ron Artest. If it weren't for his team suspension last year he would have been a good chance to win it.

Ron Artest always has his problems on and off the court. Big Ben is getting slower with age and isn't going to be the same force he was with Detroit because they have good perimeter defense. AK-47 when healthy should easily be able to win Defensive Player of the Year because the guy can block, rebound, and play overall defense. G-Force is primarily the same thing. If these two are healthy, they are easy contenders. Dwight Howard could be an outside bet to win it if he plays better defense.

I agree with age, but not what you say about Detroits perimeter defense. Yes they ahve good perimeter defense. But i think the bulls have better perimeter defense.

Not a chance, especially with Ben on his team. How many rookies in recent history have won DPOY, actually how many have even made an All-NBA defensive team.

i am pretty damn sure it has never happened. Rookies just cant play defense that good. They dont know all the tricks yet. Maybe a big man like hakeem or zo or dikembe, but thats jsut because they are shot blockers and 7 footers, unlike tt

    Emeka Okafor [IMG]

Aside from injuries and decreased blocked shots, he'll be a mix of Ben Wallace and Alonzo Mourning once he hits his prime. He might hit his prime early.

Nah, my top 3 choices for this award are Andrei Kirilenko, Ben Wallace, and Ron Artest. But, pre-season predictions are always random, so it'll take some time during the season, before we can make a good prediction.

No rookie has won DPOY, but Tim Duncan was All Defensive 2nd Team in his first year.

Bruce Bowen never gets close to actually winning the award. I think once he came in 2nd. Tyrus Thomas was good in college, you don't know how he'll play in the NBA. Ben Wallace is playing with a better perimeter defense so he won't get that many blocks.

Ya i think that Krilienko would probably win it this year. Also I think that if anyone could get a quadruple double it would be him.
