Not at all on anyone's radar that I saw.

    Tony Snell.

    A SF. Interesting.

A thesis I've put forward a few times is that we get a SG who can be a 2nd option kind of guy - and move Butler to SF.

This is the corollary to my thesis. Keep Butler at SG and get a SF who can be that 2nd option.

Tony Snell, the king of the pull-up jumper, that's who.

We need a king of pull up jumpers.

A guy who can come off screens and make baskets for a fraction of what we paid guys to do it in the past.

I'm pretty happy we didn't take Dieng or Plumlee. We should be able to find a big clumsy euro guy in the 2nd round that Thibs can scream at and turn into starting C for the Rockets.

I'm fine with the pick, but I don't expect much out of Snell as a rookie.

Stacy King needs to tell the young fella to hit the weight room.

^^^ I like how he drove to the basket on the last play and he didn't have to look at his feet while he dribbled. That's a good sign.

#20 Bulls select Tony Snell – Grade F

The Bulls reach for a guy they could have had in the second round, undrafted or off waivers probably. I don’t get it. Particularly since his numbers are not great. He was average (.106 WP40) in the Mountain West as a junior. Bad pick.

In spite of the negative reactions to the pick, I'm not horribly upset with it. I think we'd have done better with a guy like Crabbe or Hardaway Jr., but I see the rationale in this one.

It's all about his wingspan being near 7 feet.

Thibs will make a really good defensive player out of him.

I think you hit it, Denny.

Well, as Transplant said, probably wise not to count on him providing too much this year. Too skinny. 4.6% body fat!

Only a .106 WP40!?! WTF!!! D.J. Stephens had a WP40 of .354 and was still available! The Bulls' front office musta been drunk. /sarcasm

You can't pay too much attention to the draft sites or to college stats. For my money, Draft Express is the best of the draft sites and had Snell being picked at #31 overall. NBADraft.net is probably the #2 site and nailed it by predicting that the Bulls would take Snell at #20. Net, if it was a reach, it wasn't that big of one.

Oh, and if the Bulls want D.J. Stephens and his robust WP40, his phone didn't ring last night, so he's still available.

Want to know more about Snell? Well, Dime Magazine wrote an article about him a couple weeks ago declaring him the "Biggest Sleeper of the 2013 Draft."

    I quote:

We've seen our share of potential guys come and go off our roster. The 3 Cs, Tyrus, James Johnson, etc.

The article affirms the ERob 2.0 comparison, too. Scored that big contract on iffy regular season play and his stock rose on an unexpected good performance in the playoffs.

Dime also called him "a prospect on the margins"

At this point, we haven't seen the guy on the court playing alongside our guys. He could be the next Jordan for all we _really_ know.

On the other hand, I have a better feeling about some of the guys drafted after him. Crabbe, and Jamaal Franklink are two in particular. You can quote me in a year and rub my nose in those names.

The writing all over the internet about this pick seem to say that we picked him for his shooting, yet there were several guys out there who were better shooters (who also defend).

I keep going back to the fact that Snell's the right size and looks relatively quick. You're not going to get a refined scorer at 20. Might as well go with someone who has the potential to become one. My biggest gripe with the pick last year wasn't that Teague was project, it was that they picked a project who played the same position as your franchise cornerstone. I have no issues with the Bulls taking a 2-3 project.

Easy, Denny. All I've said is that I'm fine with the pick.

We all hope that he's another solid pick.
