I would have to say albert pujols by far, he probaly should already have 3-4 mvp's by now but hes been playing in the same league as bonds
Not so fast, I do think he's the best player in the NL...But Arod, hate him or not, clutch or not, is still at the top of the list for me...I want to see Pujols make a major position change(I'm not talking going from First to Right Field or somthing) first.
Whatever, that's a media aberrition, combined with him playing for bad teams for most of his career. When he goes 2 for 3 with runners in scoring position, noone says nothing...but when he strikesout in the 9th, it's a major headline...Remember this is a league where failing 7 out of 10 times is considered good.
i guess your right about arod being the best player in baseball i guess its hard to move from one pos to another
it's not just that, the guy, like Pujols, hits for Power, Average, and until this year, was a gold glove player...
I'm going with A-Rod and Pujols as the best. If i had to pick a pitcher i'd go with Roy Halladay or Johan Santana.
I think quite possibly the most talented all around player in the major leagues right now is Dontrelle Willis. He can do it all pitch, hit, run, field, and an outstanding player. He started out the season very rocky, but has been doing much better since then. Whenever he gets traded, or leaves and signs with another team i hope he stays in the National League to showcase all of his talents. However, i am going to agree with what has already been said Albert Pujols and A-Rod are the two best position players and the best pitcher in the league has to be Santana.
I hate how ARod gets so much hate from Yankee fans but I'm still going to say Pujols. I don't really care if ARod switched positions. If he did that and was a great 3rd baseman then I would put him at #1. I'm not choosing Pujols over him because of his struggles at 3rd. I know he's really not a bad fielder at his regular position. He's #2 in my opinion.Arod: 449 AB's, .287, 25 homers, 89 RBI's, 108 K's, 69 walks, 11 SB's, .388 OBP, .506 SLG, .893 OPSPujols: 382 AB's(67 less because of injuries), .330, 36 homers, 96 RBI's, 34 K's, 69 walks, 5 SB, .435 OBP, .686 slugging, 1.121 OPSPujols destroys ARod right there. Even with that injury he had he still beats him in runs, homers, RBI's and still has the same amount of walks with a lot less K's. And even with the injuries the Yanks have their line-up is still VERY good and A-Rod still hasn't gotten more RBI's or runs. The only thing ARod has over him is a little speed. I don't think this is a one-time thing for Pujols either. He is only 26 so this season was part of him getting into his prime and without that injury he would have even better offensive numbers which would be a scary thought. Pujols is the better hitter now. The defense makes it close though. A-rod would be a good choice but I'm going with Pujols.Edit: Also I'd pick Santana as the best pitcher. Lots of K's, good ERA, amazing. :happy0144:
Must be nice playing in a weaker conference and division...This year the numbers are in Pujols favor, but he also doesn't have to deal with the pressure of playing for the Yankees either, you have to take that into consideration. They both are great players, the best hitters int he game, but I still lean to Arod on tis one.
The weaker conference has the better pitchers though. You look at both conferences and you see more very good pitchers in the NL. It's the offenses that are much weaker than the AL. Like I said, ARod has a better offense around him so he should do better. If it was an argument on pitchers or a team comparison then I would understand. Also, Pujols' division has some of the best pitching...Clemens, Oswalt, Zambrano, Harang, Arroyo(last 2 doing better than Schilling)Schilling is the 2nd best pitcher in ARod's division and he's not even close to the elite pitcher he was...3.83 ERA.
Pitcher-Johan SantanaPosition Player- There are many aspects to look at.Batting AverageHomersRBIsStolen BasesSlugging%Fielding%I'm going off on a limb. I will say someone that nobody said yet. Vladimir Guerrero is the best player in baseball. He can hit for power, hit for average, steal bases, and field with the best of them. Beltran is also very versatle, but he isn't as good as Vlad.1. Guerrero2. Pujols3. A-Rod4. Manny5. Beltran
