The rumour floated right now is basically that Dallas would sign KVH and include him in the deal instead of Devean George. Thus, the Nets would receive Devin Harris, Diop, Ager, Stackhouse, and Van Horn for Kidd and Malik Allen. The problem is the same one initially: By acquiring five players for two, the Nets would temporarily have 16 players on the roster. Thus, in the first iteration of this deal, the Nets and Mavs would have made a second simultaneous deal of Antoine Wright for a pick. Implicit in that is that the Nets would be receiving a trade exception at the value of Wright's contract which Dallas must currently hold. But now there is a new problem. Because Devean George would no longer be included in the deal, and Stackhouse is to be bought out, the Nets would be woefully short of swingmen if they sent Wright along. Of course, they could remedy this by signing an unsigned free agent as soon as they bought out Stackhouse--someone like Bobby Jones, of course. Absent that, they'd have three pure PGs: Harris, Armstrong, and Marcus; and really just one player capable of playing SG (Carter) unless you count Ager, who is currently in the D league. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wright replaced by Armstrong (although that would leave the nets thin at PG, especially if Harris is slow to recover from his current injury). Another option would be to take Stackhouse out entirely, and just give KVH a much larger contract before sending him to the Nets. I have no idea whether this would work under the CBA and what the salary cap ramifications would be, but then the Nets would be acquiring four-for-two, and could then keep Wright. If I was the Nets, I'd probably insist that a large portion of KVH's contract be an upfront bonus payment, which would count to the cap but reduce the Nets' liabilities. I wouldn't be surprised if this is partially driving the Boki-plus-Magloire for Mike Miller talks, which would open up a roster spot so that the Nets could take Van Horn and Stackhouse without giving up Wright. Again, not that Wright is worth anything great, but the only reason why he was included in the first version of the deal was to create roster space. If I'm wrong about any of this, please let me know . . .
This could easily go in the other KVH thread. Marc Stein says Wright will not be going to dallas if KVH replaces George in the deal.

Boki and Wright are easy to get rid of. Who knows?
the only way the miller deal works out is if we give them boki mags and DA, or u could do boki mags and antoine it still works out so we would be trading 3 for 1, the good thing about the kidd deal if they use KVH is that it gives us an extra expriing contract to play with either DA or anotine this is fun cuz we have soo much flexibilty we can pretty much pull the trigger on any deal right now

I can see them taking out Stackhouse and just adding the salary to KVH if possible.

With the way you outlined the plan the Mavs would be adding whatever amount Kidd - Harris's salary would be. -Petey

Right now, it's Dallas with the problem, with their unwillingness to pay any extra money than needed. If they sign and trade KVH, that'd be alot more extra money they'd have to pay for the luxury tax. And who knows just how willing Cuban is to pay that money now.
