Anybody heard about Sen. David Vitter being linked to this "DC-Madam" scandal? Anybody shake their head when William Jefferson was charged with corruption charges? I just wanna know, why do ya'll think our government representatives are so corrupt? I'm not talking about just in Louisiana, but all over? Whatever happened to actually using the office to help the people?
Aldous Huxley once said "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely"The reason why I posted that is because I believe that's why everything is messed up. The wrong people are taking over these powerful positions and they're abusing them. It seems as though no one is sticking up for the middle class normal citizens who are the ones that make up this country. It's like out here in Hawaii, we have dumbass politicians selling off the land and not doing a damn thing to help out families who only make $25-40,000 a year. That may not be the best example, but I can see your point that our representatives are really doing a sh*tty job.
Money is what happened. Big dollars came in and bought congress. the entire US government is owned by big corperations. Also, they commit these crimes and get off scott free. I don't care if they visit a prostitute or get a BJ, what I get made about is when they steal money, plead guilt, and are still allowed to run for public office. and whats worse is some f*cking moron still votes for them.I think all corrupt government officials should be publically executed. it would stop a lot of this BS.
Like Redneck said, most of our government, well, practicly everything is controlled by large corporations. I think our governments always had a certain level of corruption, I honestly can't say our government is more corrupt now than it was 80 years ago. I just don't have that knowledge.
It was just as corrupt 80 years ago, but they had an idea how to come together to accomplish worthy goals and there wasn't near as much global or monetary rewards because there were fewer international corporations. Now it's all about getting a payday. Many of our elected representatives get jobs as lobbyists after they retire from politics to keep the money rolling. It's almost as if they seek election just to become a lobbyist afterward now. The only way to force the money out is to get the Supreme Court to denounce corporate, union or special interest money as "free speech."
