People all around the basketball world are saying how Renaldo Balkman is a bad pick at #20 and such, but I don't see it that way. Balkman is a hustler on the court and gets to almost every loose ball in games. The Knicks were a lazy team on defense last year while Balkman is one of the best defenders that you could have drafted at 20. It doesn't matter if he only averaged 9.6 ppg, the main point is that he is a true basketball player. I saw South Carolina play about 5 times last year and every game Balkman showed up. He has a quick first step on defenders and isn't that bad on a ball handler. Another thing that I noticed about him is that he has an array of post moves that he uses on bigger defenders.People can bash me all I want but at the end of the day, Balkman will be one of the best rookies to come out of this draft class.
He may be a good player, but the point is, is that he could have been selected with the 29th pick, or be selected in the 2nd round. He shouldn't have been picked that early. He may be good, but its dumb to pick him that high.
Balkman could have gone undrafted. If a player has the potential to not even be drafted, picking him at the 20th pick is stupid. First looks have Isiah making another idiot move, but hopefully for his sake Balkman turns out to be something.

Balkman would've probably been available AFTER the draft, they could've just signed him as an undrafted player. It was retarded to pick him when there was Rajon Rondo, Marcus Williams, Kyle Lowry, Shannon Brown, Jordan Farmar, Mo Ager, and plenty of other good players still available.

They selected the guy w/ the 20th pick!!! Sure maybe he does end up being a top 20 player but NYK could've picked a better player w/ that pick and tooken him w/ the 29th pick or traded for the rights to him in the second round. Hell theres a good chance he mightve not even gotten drafted and they could've just signed him in the off season. What you need to realize is people weren't mad that Renaldo was taken by the Knicks. People are mad because of where they took him. They are mad because they could've taken him w/ the 29th poick and gotten a more quality player w/ the 20th pick.
Does no one realize Suns would have took Balkman with one of their picks before trading them. Just because Knicks drafted him and you guys are brainwashed by Stephen A's yelling, you just think he's a bad pick. So what if he got drafted higher then he should have, this ain't the first time it happens. The Knicks wanted him and got him, they didn't risk another team snatching him up and knew they would get a player at 29 who fell. It's simple.
