I LOVE NBA basketball to the death of me. I don't think theres ANY other sport as exciting. The fact that it's nonstop action up & down. It's more about physical ability, no helmets, pads etc..It involves running, jumping, speed, quickness & strength. I don't think any sport meshes all those attributes better. Basketball ROCKS For some of you, why is NBA bball ur favorite sport..............
I dont know why but I just love it. Like when I came to USA, we had a basketball goal outside our house, so me and my brother just played on it. One of our friends taught us how to play, and we just played basketball from then on and we loved it. Then we heard about Rockets and NBA, then it started. Rockets and NBA got me hooked pretty fast. It is the excitement and the fun of it that makes it so good. Football can be pretty exciting to watch, but basketball is much better imo.
I think NBA basketball has more drama than other team sports like baseball, football, soccer. There's great variation in player's style of play, so it's interesting to see how that mixture of ability comes together. I also like that it's possible for great players to really take over a game. You don't see that kind of thing as often in other sports. Game winners/buzzer beaters are somewhat unique to basketball as well. Personally, I think they're more exciting than walk off homeruns. And the combination of athleticism, coordination, and skill exhibited in NBA basketball exceeds what you find in other sports in my view.
here are my very reasons: 1. Competitive right til the end. Unlike NFL where at halftime a team can be up by 30, why even watch the second half. Or soccer, same thing. An NBA game, anyone can come back. Even down by 15 headed into the 4th it's anyone's game most of the time. 2. Action has a rhythm to it. Like tennis, the game gets into a rhythm. Watching a team execute is kind of like watching a dope hip-hop beat. 3. You can see the players faces. watching the expressions on the players faces only adds to the drama. you get to see their frustrations, game face, etc. In NFL or NHL there is helmets on so its not the same. 4. High athleticism. it's the most athletic sport i can think of - by far. 5. High style NBA players have their own style. Very few players in other sports have quite an individual style. They tend to blend into the rest of their team. when you watch the sixers, you're not going to miss Allen Iverson he stands out so much. it's hard to have your own style when you're running around the bases in an MLB game - everyone looks pretty much the same when they run. 6. THe ball just looks cool going through the hoop. Something about the way it swishes through the net is just cool.
Well it's not my favourite sport, but here's some of the reasons I like it: -Smaller Rosters: it's easier to become familiar with the individual players and each player is a bigger part of the team success. -Runs: the game is built on runs and it's awesome watching the momentum swing back and forth. -Culture: I wasn't into basketball that much when I was young, but I identified more with the music, people, style, and personalities in basketball than with any other sport. -Man to Man Defense: defense in basketball is more personal than in any other sport and I've always loved that players can singlehandedly take their opponent out of the game.

I love basketball and football,or soccer as u guys call it here I love it because it's a teamsport,it's exciting,I love the emotions after you make the game winner or score the winning goal etc...and the fact that there are a lot of different styles and tactics on how u can play the game and still be very effective... anyway... I love this game!
Basketball is my favorite sport cause: It is exciting to watch and not a commercial every 2 seconds like in American Football You don't have to wait 20 minutes for a pitch like in Baseball You dont have to wait forever until a team scores a goal like in Soccer Hockey is just boring for me to watch, I only watch when I'm bored
Soccer? I don't know about that. Where is the strength in soccer? <div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Basketball is my favorite sport cause: It is exciting to watch and not a commercial every 2 seconds like in American Football You don't have to wait 20 minutes for a pitch like in Baseball You dont have to wait forever until a team scores a goal like in Soccer Hockey is just boring for me to watch, I only watch when I'm bored</div> ^^^Why I can't watch football all the way thru...those damn commercials!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">Soccer? I don't know about that. Where is the strength in soccer?</div> Soccer requires a lot of strength. Every fight for positioning is determined by who can muscle themselves in there (similar to boxing out for a rebound). Races after a loose ball is dependant on more than speed alone. Soccer probably requires the most skill out of the major sports. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Carter:</div><div class="quote_post">Hockey is just boring for me to watch, I only watch when I'm bored</div> You'd be surprised by hockey, if you actually sat down and watched it. It's probably the most similar to basketball out of the 4 major North American sports. There's 5 players and all of them have dual roles (eg: scoring and defending). End-to-end action and the game is usually one big fast break. Momentum in hockey can be just as important as in basketball.

It takes forever for a team to score, and I'm not a patient guy.
Bow Wow put it best. "Basketball is my favorite sport. I love the way they dribble up and down the court."
<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It's like soccer. It takes forever for a team to score, and I'm not a patient guy.</div> In that case, I suggest ping pong. The ball goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Non stop action.
<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">In that case, I suggest ping pong. The ball goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. You wouldn't find that a little boring? I appreciate the skills and strategy involved in soccer; but I have to say I'm with most Americans on this one. When the success rate on a play is less than 5%, I just have a hard time enjoying it. What's the winning% like in soccer leagues (I don't follow them at all)? I'd guess that a vast majority of the teams are close to 50%.
I think every major sport requires it's own set of unique skills, but when looking at it over all, I think basketball requires the most athletisicm. It requires just as much stamina as soccer (the ball can go up and down for multiple posessions without much of a rest (i.e- no walking), wheras in soccer, many players can have minutes where they're just walking around while the ball is on the other side or being passed around. Aside from stamina, you need to be strong to take the beating from other 6 and 7 foot athletic machines, and you need to be able to run, jump, dribble, shoot, score and be tough on a mental level as well. Although basketball requires more athletisicm, soccer requires just as much skill, if not more. As for hockey being boring...watch a playoff game (which is the only time I watch the NHL), when the stakes are high. That sport is AMAZING. Although I get tired of hearing about it on canadian sports channels 24/7, It is really fun to watch in the playoffs. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> So, suppose you were watching a basketball game and the defense was so overwhelmingly dominating the offense that neither team could score more than a few baskets in 48 minutes. I'm a fan, but honestly I remember a couple of years ago the Pistons were playing some game where they had like 20 points in the middle of the second quarter or something and it was one of those slow games...it honestly bored the hell out of me. Some teams are more attractive then others, some games are more attractive then others. Just because I'm an NBA fan doesn't mean I'm sitting and watching down every single game of every single team. If it interests me, I'll watch it. In fact, I watched the NHL playoffs that year over those boring Pistons games (sorry, I respected the team but some of thier games were really boring to watch..I guess I'm a sucker for superstars). <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I appreciate the skills and strategy involved in soccer; but I have to say I'm with most Americans on this one. I know I differ greatly from most people I know in that respect. Anyways, that comment was mainly meant to defend hockey, not soccer. I know that soccer isn't for anybody, but hockey kind of gets dismissed in a similar fashion, when it's nothing like that.
<div class="quote_poster">Umair15 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You whats another exciting sports to watch besides Basketball? CRICKET!.. Baseball, tennis and golf are sports that are MUCH more funner to play then watch.
<div class="quote_poster">Umair15 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You whats another exciting sports to watch besides Basketball? CRICKET!.. And fullout padding to ensure that you don't hurt yourself. Of course, that's just me being an ignorant and sarcastic, but whatever.
