I just don't understand why the Bears would want to take on an "experimental coach," especially after the great Steve Spurrier debacle. Why not a known commodity instead?

Signing Saban on is like saying "we'll bring in a guy and let him learn how the NFL works for two years."

I hope for the Bears sake he says "no."

no way, pack attack. that is not what they are thinking and it is important to note that both bill walsh and jimmy johnson came from the college ranks, look how that turned out, spurrier quit to soon, he had a better record than both of them after 2 seasons. Saban is a taskmaster who will bring the bears back where they belong, the super bowl.

Plus, Spurrier was a different risk because he ran a radical system...Saban is a defensive minded guy, who is an excellent teacher of the game, much less risky than Spurrier who even said before he took the job that he wanted to find out if his system could work in the NFL....Saban also was a co-ordinator in the league for a few year in the early '90s, I dont consider him a risk at all, In fact I think its a great hire if they can get it done

Even if it took Saban a year or two to really become an effective NFL head coach, what does it matter. Its not like the bears are 1 great head coach away from making a strong run towards the superbowl.

i disagree they could win super bowl next year, people said same thing bout patriots the year before the won it. they are loaded with talent it just isnt producing enough, and grossman could be the spark to turn it around. Besides wouldnt it be great if carroll got another shot at NFL and they could finally settle the whole title thing on the field(sort of :->)

Every team in the NFL is 1 player or coach from winning the Super Bowl....the difference in talent from a top team to a bottom team isnt all that much....I wouldnt be shocked if the Chargers or Raiders won the Super Bowl next year after combining for 8 wins this year, so I certainly wouldnt be surprised if the Bears did it

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I think we are still a way's off from the superbowl. I will settle for playoffs right now and work up to that. As for coaches, I don't know what the BEARS are doing. The are going to end up like the QB delemma, wait until everyone else has signed and then pick out of who is left. Let's see PLUMMER(playoffs) or KORDELL(bench)? Now it's SABAN, when he says no, who's left? I think there is a conspiracy in CHICAGO. Someone is out to make all CHICAGO teams stink, BEARS, BULLS in general(LOL)! Just kidding, I think my BEARS will be o.k. and I have a feeling we will have a better season next year. I hope that REX can come into his own and be that star Q.B. that the BEARS have needed in years! He lookes pretty darn good so far to me and I believe that he is capable. I am excited to see this team next season with REX at the helm. Go BEARS..... Also I say bring back DITKA![IMG]

I have been surprised that Ditka's name hasn't surfaced in the Bears searches already. After his stint in New Orleans showed he still had an interest in coaching. Although A-train would look funny in a wedding dress!

Well as I had predicted, SABAN has decided to stay at LSU. So now who do the BEARS go after and does it even matter? We shall see, the search still continues.

Nick Saban has been a very good NFL D.C. under Bill Belechek. He's sought after as an NFL H.C. every year. I believe he'd be a good one.

The question now is will the Bears become the NFL's Nebraska? Maybe they'll just go with a black man ... so they don't get turned down again. [IMG]

The list grows shorter every day, so what will we do? Who will we end up with? Another coach that gets us nowhere and gets the boot in a few years or will we find a diamond in the rough? GO BEARS.... I havn't had a chance to say that in awhile, sorry![IMG]

Greg Robinson would make a fine coach for you guys. I hear he can really build a defense! Please contact him ASAP!

Bearsfan1, I totally disagree. Go check out the articles at www.firegregrobinson.com to substantiate my claims. We have a handful of guys that I would not bring back, but overall, I think we have some good players. Robinson's schemes were just horrible. I would get rid of Bartee (he couldn't cover Siragusa), and Browning (The guy just cannot shed a blocker). Other that that I would try to keep the others. We need a starting MLB badly, but Maslowski would be a terrific 2nd guy. Hey on that note, if you're so sold on Robinson...We will trade him for Urlacher straight up (Brian, not Casey)!

In your dreams, and I believe I will use a quote from DALE if he doesn't mind.......HOSEHEAD! Sheeze, we have one star player on the team and you try and get him.[IMG]

Hey! You can't blame a guy for trying. We could use at least one star on defense. (even a semi-star would be nice.) At least we do have Jerome Woods and Ryan Sims.
