<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Just how badly do the Phoenix Suns need to bring in a backup center? Maybe not as bad as people think. When Kurt Thomas, who will start at center, goes to the bench, the Suns plan on sliding Amare Stoudamire over to the five spot and playing small. That will give them the option of bringing a Jimmy Jackson or Raja Bell in for Thomas and changing the style to more of a spread-the-floor look that the Suns were so successful with this year. The Suns are still interested in bringing back Steven Hunter but only have the minimum exception of $1.7 million to offer him. Hunter has interest from several other teams, including the New York Knicks, and will likely leave if he gets a better offer. He may also be looking for a situation that will afford him more playing time, as it appears the Suns new 1-2 punch of Thomas and Stoudamire inside would limited his minutes on the court ... Jake Voskuhl is still on the roster and could be an insurance plan should Hunter leave and the Suns fail to lure anyone worthwhile with the minimum exception. But trading Voskuhl to a team that's under the cap, say like Cleveland, Atlanta or Memphis, would make sense because it saves the Suns $1.9 million and allows them to move Voskuhl without bringing a player of equal salary back ... Now I know what basketball was like before Bird and Magic in the day of the tape-delayed finals: The Suns report from their summer league game against Sacramento the other day had the following line, "Due to a computer crash in the second quarter, the stats do not reflect the second quarter." Kayte Christensen, who was waived by the Phoenix Mercury Thursday, was more than a pretty face. She was the perfect spokesperson for the team and role model for younger girls. Never a great player, Christensen was not seeing much playing time this year and was recently put on the injured list. The Mercury attempted to trade her but in the end had to let her go before Saturday - the day contracts become guaranteed. The move affords them some salary cap flexibility should an injury occur or the need for another player arise. Christensen has been offered a job within the organization should she fail to land on another roster.</div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post"> Source </div> I think the Suns need another big for defensive purposes. Who do we have to guard the likes of TD, KG, and Shaq if Amare and KT are in foul trouble (JJ )? What if one of these guys gets injured (gasp)?!
They need one for sure or we will be left with 1 short center and 1 power forward on the whole team. Does that sound right to you?
Hell yeah we need a center, and bad, out tallest ok center is amare and he is only 6'10 kurt is 6'9 they are too short to play the 5. we need a good 7'0 guy in the middle who is athletic i have no one in mind but i know bryan collangelo will come up with something.
My dad said they could pick up Dale Davis maybe, for cheap. He would be a good guy to have in there for 15-20 min. to play defense, and rebound...
