Despite being the richest and most watched sports league in the world, the Prem is still allowing its players to be hypothetically cherry picked by the two Spanish clubs, Barca and RM. The Prem needs to undertake a myth busting exercise. The myth that you are not a complete player until you play for one of these two clubs. If Ronaldo goes he will go with a message. That being, our clubs are willing to sell the foreign youth they have developed, or brought on. Lets look at Arsenal. Around October i saw the first stories linking Febregas to RM, a few weeks later Barca. Now, they obviously know that Febregas is on a 8 year contract with Arsenal but that still doesn't stop them thinking that they lure him over/back. Of course the irony in that Fabregas was originally in their(Barca) youth setup doesn't seem to register with them. Since the league cup started reports have surfaced of Spanish interest in Denilson, no surprise there. And that's the problem, that it is no surprise. It's about time the message gets across that these World class youngsters can fulfill their footballing ambitions in the Premiership. Keeping Ronaldo would be a massive step in the right direction.
Hey Biglips88, think you'll find the same will apply Spanish clubs as well. Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, United and others are consistently linked with players... Torres, Villa for example. The difference is most of our premiership players are not home grown, which IF not the case, then they probably wouldn't be linked to 24/7.
but ronaldo wants to go to spain and if hes got the chance he will aloong with most other players would you turn down the opportunity to play for one of those two clubs look at mcmanaman and woodgate they both got paid to sit on the bench it all up to the player you cant blame real or barca for wanting the best player
