They're just so different. In the USA it's so often things like joining in for DEEEEEEEEE-TROIT BASKETBALL and clapping along to things. Compare that to the English chants such as:

You're sister is your mother, your father is your brother, your coughcoughing one another, the *INSERT PLACE NAME* Family
You Fat Bastard, you fat bastard. Who ate all the pies, who ate all the pies? That fat bastard that fat bastard he ate all the pies.

Here it's more taking the piss out of the oppo's fans. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's more respectful in the USA.

I have to take a trip to the UK soon.

I would love to say stuff like that but I'm a follower so I would need to see someone else do it first.

I think its because we don't have opposing fans in the same arena. It's just the two teams so the chants are just trying to pump your own team up (Deee-troiit Basketball!) or bring the other team down (VC Sucks!).

Plus European crowds are just more passionate. Less corporate fans.

They simply can't compare to some of the ones we get in England, like 60,000 fans chanting "The Referee's a wanker" etc

Or, at Tottenham fans (traditionally Jewish) they sign "Where is your foreskin? Where is your foreskin? etc"

There are worse ones too, but it's not a good idea to post them, lol.

    e.g. the 6th and 9th paragraphs here : http://sport.guardian.co.uk/columnists/sto...1704757,00.html

Or blacked out students at a college rugby match. One time this townie came and she tried to hit on our players while we were on the bench. Weird. She made quite the scene

I've noticed that high school games here are alot more passionate than the pro level. I know when I was in high school our fans would yell MOOO at teams we played that came from hick towns. And of course against rivals there's always the "fuck you" chant and some other ones.

I once chanted "Lets go tip some cows" and "we have stop lights" at a high school girls volleyball match.

    We got into it.
