<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There figures to be several interesting position battles once Cavaliers training camp starts on Oct. 4.

Damon Jones and Eric Snow will vie for the starting point guard spot, Donyell Marshall and Drew Gooden for starting power forward, and a battle for third point guard.

The Cavaliers agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with veteran point guard Mike Wilks late Wednesday. Currently, he's considered the front-runner to win the job.

Recently, Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry also agreed to a similar deal with Blake Stepp. The former Gonzaga star played well in summer league for the Cavaliers in July, when he averaged 10.2 points and shot 50 percent on 3-pointers, but has battled a series of knee problems in recent years.

It is likely the Cavaliers will have at least one other player in camp competing for the job. Filiberto Rivera, who starred last season at UTEP, is a candidate.

Wilks played 48 games for the world-champion Spurs last season, when Ferry got to know him. Overall, he has three years of NBA experience, averaging 2.3 points and 1.2 assists in 120 games.</div>

I loved wilks when he was a rocket 2 seasons ago...I loved the way he pressured the ball and knew how to get guys the right shots...he's reall quick and can break a press nicely...he has a decent shot but his long-range 3 could afford to be better...I think he would make a great third guard for any team...
