Payton's a punk. But anyways, will Ainge move him to one of the teams that Payton has mentioned, Clippers, Houston, or Minny? Or will Doc be able to sweet talk him into playing in green? Doc was able to get Blount to re-sign, and that was a huge turn-around. Doc also has kids that he didn't want to move, and he kept them in FL while he coaches in Bos. If there is a trade, what could we get for him? I don't see anyone on the Clippers that would make sense. They have some young talent, but I doubt they'd give any of them up. Perhaps an expiring contract and a 1st rounder? Clippers' 1st rounders are like gold.
ALl PAytons chances are slowly going down. First, he proved hes nto as good as he used to be on the Lakers. Then, he proves he is a HUGE complainer. At this rate no one will want him.
Payton, in a system that was horrible for him, still put up 15 ppg. I would have killed to get that from the point guards last year. Is he what he was? No. But, he's still better than nothing, which is what we get if he quits. I think Doc can talk him into playing here and if not Danny could always tell him to come in, see how it works and if he's still pissed in February they'll move him when he's at his most valuable. Then the C's still get 5 months of him before they hand the keys over to West or Banks. I can't see him going to the Clips, because he's no longer the name he was so he won't fill seats (which Donald Sterling needs) and he may have ruined any good will he had with the city (though, if he really wants to stick the Lakers, thats the place to do it at). Houston just signed Sura and Ward, so I doubt they'd want him and Minny just went through the whole saga to keep Troy Hudson, so thats out. He said if he wasn't re-signing with the Lakers he would have gone to Golden State. How about Payton for Cliff Robinson (last year of his deal)?

I don't know how much his contract is worth, so don't know if it would work financially, but if it doesn, it's an interesting thought. Cliff is a solid defender, and will fit in nice as a solid vet in the locker room. We might get a little crowded at the forwards spots. That's actually one of the things about pulling another trade, is that we have so many players who needs playing time on the roster already, that it almost seems like we can't use another player. So getting a guy like Cliff, who will help off the court and give us cap relief at the end of the year may be a good thing.

And as for having too many players that required playing time, it a nice problem to have, isn't it?
Gary Payton - $5,408,700 Cliff Robinson - $5,280,000 Just letting you know it will work, within 15% of each other's salary. Saw everyone asking about salaries, so I figured I'd help out and use the salaries for my mock off-season game...which are correct, by the way.
As a Warrior fan, i'm not too sure that Mullin would pull the trigger on this deal. The Warriors are pretty much set at the guard spot with D-Fish, Speedy, and even J-Rich or Pietrus playing point. On the other hand, I would be totally against it to see Payton back home, I just don't know if they would want to bring him in after signing Fisher.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 44caliberThrila:</div><div class="quote_post">Payton can be traded as we speak as long as he isn't packaged with somebody.</div> I thought it was the other way around - he could be traded within the 60 days as long as its with Fox, and Fox only (in which case the salaries for Robinson wouldn't work). Thats why the Laettner/Dampier deal can't be official yet, because Laettner could only be dealt with Stackhouse.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CeltsMan54:</div><div class="quote_post">And as for having too many players that required playing time, it a nice problem to have, isn't it?</div> It's a beautiful thing. And by the way, Payton can be traded immediately if it's a straight up one-for-one swap. See http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story...chad&id=1862689. Oh, and sactomofo, what were your warriers thinking with the Folye/D-Fish signing?
he probably would get traded...I think GP is done listening to what team staffs have to say after L.A. and want's to take control of his destiny...if he does retire then this is a loss for Celtics. This deal is weird, it seems both teams didn't really benefit from it.
he pretty much has to trade him...Payton has already stated he wont report, but payton is really hurting his stock by being a complainer...but either way I dont see Payton in Boston next season...
