Today at 6:25 pm Eastern, the 140th Belmont Stakes goes off with a field of 10 3 year olds. The race is 1.5 miles and the weather forecast is A slight chance of a thunderstorm, temperatures in the upper 80s.

Will Big Brown pull it off and be the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978?

Did I hear on the radio coming to work that Casino Drive was scratched?
This is going to be more like a coronation than a horse race.

Yes, Casino Drive was scratched this morning.

I guess Denis of Cork is the only long shot worth noting now.

I get a bad feeling about today....with all the work that they have done on Big Brown's hoof, i wonder if he would even start if this wasnt his shot at history....something is not right, I hope Im not sitting here explaining a tragedy to my kids....

He's got this locked up. His only real competition was Casino Drive, and he was scratched. Plus, Ian McKinnley is saying that Big Brown is 100%, which I think spells doom for the rest of the field.

You could always record the race and make sure everything went smoothly before watching with the little ones.

Not sad that Rick Dutrow lost. He will blame the hoof.

Im actually glad that Big Brown lost this race for a few reasons....#1, this would have been a tainted triple crown in my opinion becasue his chief rival at the Derby died on the track and his biggest competition at the Belmont couldnt go....#2, I think Detrow is a prick that would have done anything including endangering the horse, which I think he may have done, for the triple crown....

All this horse's connections are really seedy and the whole thing was off-putting.

It's better another horse finally wins the Triple Crown.

    Dutrow is such a d-bag.
He won't give interviews now, and said to the reporters "don't think about it".

He was full of quotes before the race and was a huge d-bag, guaranteeing victory, and now won't give any. F U with a rubber D.

Horse racing people wanted a Triple Crown winner but they all hate Dutrow.
Smarty Jones was the horse everyone wanted to be the one, and it just didn't happen.

Still can't believe Da’ Tara managed to go wire to wire

How many times now has a Nick Zito horse spoiled a potential Triple Crown?
